Mane just mushed him that’s all,i do that all the time to get to the front of the self serve in ASDA.
It was a push, not a hit. The arm went a bit too high. Yellow card was the correct decision, it wasn’t dangerous.
Anyone who thinks otherwise is on the same level mentally as Troopz and DT. Don’t let that be you.
Question is, is it clear and obvious that it wasn’t a yellow and it was a red, no, not in the slightest so VAR was right not to intervene.
Anyhow the composure shown when we went behind, it almost didn’t knock how we were playing, probably the biggest improvement in us.
[quote=“Colossal_centre_back, post:221, topic:854, full:true”]My view is Mane wasn’t looking at the player, but wanted to brush him aside with his arm. He was assuming it’ll be a push on his shoulder, but Tierney had bent and thus hit his face. Don’t think it was intentional.
The fume in that twitter thread is hilariously over the top. Ridiculously over the top victim complex. The absolute state of it. They act like the Mane accidental forearm was the equivalent of Nani putting his studs in someone’s ribs. What happened to them coming in here and showing us there is a new sheriff in town? Arsenal was supposed to “have our number”!!!
If you don’t know anyone from the shit holes of Burnage or Moss Side, then you don’t know any City fans.
Not that accidental! If a red was given, would have been hard to argue against. A ‘push’ with your forearm looks a lot like an elbow to the face. He was only trying to clear space for himself, I agree with that, but intent doesn’t really matter. There was an elbow in someones face, regardless if it was a forearm push or a swinging intentional elbow, so could easily have been a red. But a yellow was given, and I see no reason to upgrade to red based on what was seen, just as if a red was given, there is no real reason to then downgrade to a yellow based on review. But ref decided a yellow, so yellow it is.
Sadio got a yellow and I breathed a sigh of relief. All strikers protect the space with an arm across, but that was a little too vigorous from Mane. He didn’t look at the defender, and didn’t lift his arm back and give an elbow. So I’ve seen much worse, with more intent. Be that as it may, he absolutely did give the ref a reason to blow his whistle, and at that point you are sort of in the lap of the gods as to what the ref will do.
I think a yellow was the right decision, but if he did get a red card, it would fall under the category of “seen them given” even if it might have been a little unfortunate.
As it happens Mane had an incredible game. He has such speed and desire. Definitely one of the best players in the world at the moment. But in the cold light of day as the game is reviewed, he will be aware that on another day he might well have walked for that.
I thought it was a yellow, but you’re right, it was risky and had it been later in the game he might have gone. He’s so pumped up at the moment but in the form of his life.
It was pretty damned funny, but I actually agree with Keane. Some Arsenal forwards were way too open considering how we were controlling play.
Second: Virg. Diagonal balls. Porn.
Drank in the same pub as Ronnie P and lived to tell the tale
You didn’t end up in the infirmary?
Yes was all fine, we exchanged nods, no offers of bare knuckle fights at any point. Seems quite remorseful of the whole incident recently
I really was not too thrilled with how we played yesterday, some mental lapses. But when I look around, we have played a fairly difficult start, and Arsenal looks as sound as anyone. This team is the half-full glass right now, we know it is well below ceiling but it is gathering in the points as needed.
I feel sorry for the rest of the league.
Well, not really.
Personally didn’t see anything wrong with our performance yesterday bar the odd misplaced pass, the Alison save was a bit worrying but the rest was quite controlled.
What was the second thing VAR robbed them of… I’m struggling to remember anything beyond the 3rd minute?
The third goal and whether it was handball.
Mind you, we still would’ve won if Jota’s goal had been disallowed, so I don’t think they’ve thought it through…
Also it wasn’t handball.
Oh yeah that…
Yeah doesn’t change the game one bit, they hadn’t had a chance since the 67th minute which was 21 minutes before Jota scores. (Not classing the through ball Becker cleared for us to create a chance as a chance) And it isn’t a hand ball as you said, it could have been if you looked at one specific still but that’s the whole point the ref has the option of several and in the other lot it doesn’t.
Regardless not even debating rubbish like that, Mane they can make a case, that it really has no bearing.
