Post match: Liverpool v Aston Villa (EPL 10/4/21 3pm)

and also have a line for when the ball is struck at the same time as the offside line you freeze the frame when the ball is struck and every time the player is well onside but when you are desperate to chalk off a goal that will not happen it would spoil the VAR room’s fun!

Fify.
Both prefixes mean the same, the former in Spanish and the latter English. :slightly_smiling_face:

plus the lines are not straight they slant them to be offside they need a graded ruler on both sides of the pitch if you want to go to that extent?

The Royal Liverpool is also a hospital, which seems quite apt given our injury situation.

We need a green card so that cheating like that gets punished. Something like if your not on your feet in 30 seconds (which for me is a fuck of a long time when sitting on my sofa watching these …). Then you get a green card (if no substitute come on or something in any case if your not off the pitch pretty swiftly then your in trouble) which is 10 minutes on the side line. Those 2 inacceptable Villa time wasting efforts would then not happen. The 1st one was a joke and the ‘Luis’ chap was in our faces all match should have had a red yet got away with a yellow for blocking a freekick of all things (that was a lucky call for us, we weren’t set up to defend at that point).

VAR is garbage. I’d say 95% of the time I see the lines being drawn, the attacker is offside, which makes me think there is bias in how the lines are being drawn.

Firmino was MOTM IMHO. His movement and touches were excellent.

It’s fast becoming a none - contact sport… unless it’s from a corner kick and then you can do as much wrestling as you want.

can anyone see the ball?

You obviously never saw Brandao playing! :joy:
On a serious note we surely only have our selves to blame I mean why is Jota’s shirt 3 sizes too big for him allowing them to effectively use the wort on his elbow to rule him offside?
We should ask our kit manufacturers to provide kits like those that I saw last time I watched Aussie rules, skin tight singlets and ball crushing shorts, just make sure the haircuts are not the same. Crewcuts and all body parts shaven would ne my order of the day. Then the only thing that could catch us out is our players balls protuding from those gastly shorts.

It might just have been yesterday but it looked to me like they drew the line for the defender then placed the line for Jota just offside and then plotted the vertical line to see where it intersects him. To me that is looking for a reason to give offside. You’re literally looking for whether you can give it as offside.

Surely you should pick determine his furthest forward point first and then see where that lines up with the last defender.

I despise it in its entirety but if it has to be used the lino should be giving a decision and then VAR take a quick look as standard as part of reviewing the play. No stupid lines and you’ve got until the ref is ready to restart play to raise it with him.

The win is even better when you remember John Terry the absolute monster racist knob is the Villa Assistant Manager.

Also now makes sense why Villa are full of cheating twats.

I had completely forgotten about that, it makes the win all the sweeter.

Ball is beyond the first white line, TAAs foot behind the other. Just shows how bad a decision it was

That’s a shadow of his head… The decision is bad because supposedly players score with their elbows these days.

Trent has a massive foot!

The offside was a joke it was clear from the start and all the replays Jota was at least a meter onside!

Huge three points for us.

Three consecutive league wins, finally winning a home game, scoring a late goal and of course getting the 3 points inspite of teh fact that we were on the losing side after the first 45 minutes.

This time the team and the manager reminded all fans and the opposition that the mentality monsters are still alive. Dominating the first half, missing several good opportunites to score, conceding a late goal /43rd minute/ and of course another farcial decision by VAR.

Still the boys found resilience and character and won a very, very diffcult game and this is a very sweet revenge on a solid Villa team. We hurt them without winning by a big margin, just see their reaction after the winner in th 91 minute.

Funny thing is that Villa scored while we were totally dominating and in the 1st half there was only one team on the field. While we won the game during a much more balanced second half, when Villa had the best chance /Trezeguet hitting the woodwork and then missing a free header/, while we did not create much /except the two situations in th 91st minute when Martinez save Tiago’s effort and sceond later TAA scored/.

Still the win must not hide our defficencies and neither Arsenal, nor Villa are even close to the quality of Real Madrid. Defence was once again shaky and we let Villa score with their first half decent chance.
Giving McGinn space, letting Watkins run free and of course another goal and another poor reaction from Alisson.

The lack of speed in our central defenders is a big problem. The fullbacks are definitely below the levels they reached for the last 2 seasons.

Midfield is simply not delivering offensively and of course the lack of goals form 2 of our main forwards - Mane and Firmino is a cause of concern.

We need to improve, but at least those league wins will give the manager and the squad time and morall boost.

I came across this on Twitter. Wow! Look at the Kop going mad, I miss football in its proper form. Football past year has been a parody of itself.
