Post match: Liverpool v Atalanta (EL 11/4/24 8pm)

Except for the price of beer, wine and about everything else. Not to mention the insects and the sun.

I talked to the lad about that. I get going long in the first half, presuming it was something they had spotted in the analysis, but I don’t know why they were still doing it in the 80th minute. Lads, it isn’t working.

I was in a pub which didn’t show the match.

Also the balll needs to be driven from Kelleher with a lower flight as it is then very difficult for a defender to win the ball with their head and is also easier for Darwin to flick it on or hold it up

Lucky bugger.

@Bekloppt I’m in Berlin so I followed your tip and headed to the Tante Kathe bar. Great spot but the Roma supporters in the back room made the most noise.

Just arrived home from the game and I need a very large scotch after that performance. Klopp underestimated Atalanta with his team selection and the players looked like they only had to turn up to win. Tsimikas and Jones were so far off the pace, they should never have started. It doesn’t help when Nunez misses yet another chance, which would’ve made it 1-0 and puts a completely different complexion on the game. I’m only voting for Gakpo for MoM, he worked hard and at least looked like he was arsed.

Seriously? I was there. Standing and swearing a lot.
Our fans were very quiet throughout. Not even showing their frustration.

Oddly looked completely off.

Against Man Utd you could at least see a team going for it, tonight was summed up by that third goal.

No one looked like they cared.

I was front row screen on the left. Swearing as well.

But enjoying the Kathe Pils.

Shame I didn’t send the message pre match I would have bought you a couple of beers.

Cheers anyway.

There was a woman next to me in the Anfield Road end, she was doing enough swearing for both of us.

Yeah, really a shame. It would have been good to meet a TANner. Would have lessened the pain.

I haven’t read all the comments above so this may have already been discussed, but anyone have any views on whether the crowd not bringing any of the normal European banners as a demonstration against the season ticket price rises could have had an affect on the players?

I seem to remember a similar protest, a walk out in the 77th minute against Sunderland, when we were 2 up. Game finished 2-2 and seemed to have distracted the team.

Unbelievable on how poor the lads were tonight. Atalanta is a good team, but no way they should be beating us on our turf 3 nil.
Tactically, Atalanta we’re spot on, but we have enough qualities to overcome that. The whole game was so disjointed. No tempo, no creativity, and most of the passes are misplaced. The way we setup our plays are becoming too predictable. A lot of teams would just crowd the middle and force us to play the ball back and recycle the play. There’s not enough rotation and interchange between the players to break the opposition’s line. It has been like this the last few weeks.
The other thing that is hurting the team right now is when we have a clear cut chance, you have to put away your chances. I love Darwin, I think he has its usefulness on the team, but he has to be more ruthless in front of goal. It’s been 2yrs and he’s still not clinical enough. Jota is our only clinical striker, he needs to be starting every game from now till the end of the season. By the way, the way we defended tonight was absolute schoolboy stuff. Tsimakis and Gomez just weren’t up for it tonight, so many loose plays down the flank that became threatening opportunities for Atalanta.
It is possible to come back from this, we’ve done it before, but honestly I don’t think is realistic. I rather Jurgen focus on the Prem now and give that a go then try to salvage the tie next week.

Disappointing last week days for us, hopefully this is rock bottom and we are on the way up.

Assume we will see come Sunday, I do think this would have been done best on a march outside.

Anyhow they will have to serve something up Sunday, I can be patient with games like Sunday, tonight was a mess and credit to Atalanta.

See what happens Sunday anyhow, start afresh on Sunday and gain some semblance of respect back.

Certainly didn’t fucking help

I thought we were giving their centre-back heading practice, with Nunez playing the role of ‘centre-forward’ to try and give it some realism.

Beaten by a simple but effective man to man marking.
What is most concerning is how VVD can go from being a good captain to non existent. He really was complacent from what I saw and the only player it didn’t seem to affect is Gakpo (who all alone isn’t going to win us matches).

All of them bar for Gakpo and Jota deserves to be docked wages…
