Post match: Liverpool v Atletico Madrid (UCL 9/9/26 8pm

Yes, I remember one of them, I think it was in the second half, at least the one that stuck with me. Just stepping up to intercept rather than getting passive. And it’s not the first game he does that either, seems like it’s just a thing he does. Very alert.

I was and the sound was great. An overall good performance. Macallister, Szlobozai and Wittz all played well. The right side of defence and Virgil all did well. Great atmosphere. Let’s carry it on to Saturday. :+1::nerd_face:

Please don’t give up on a player who helped us greatly in winning the league but he has sat in the knowledge that he would get picked for every game by Slot. This manager more or less gave him a kick up the backside and is leaving him out and putting him on afterwards and that way I’m sure he will get back the old Gravenberch, I just hope hope he doesn’t get miffed and give up.

He doesn’t half cover the ground fast with his long legs and he is so calm and collected for such a young guy.

Have to say, I don’t really rate him.

But he now has the chance to stake a claim for his spot. I think the question is what he adds is one Iraola will ask and it’s for Grav to show her adds something important. Hopefully he does and rises to the challenge. Has lost his place in recent games

It could be he’s having some adaptation issues and needs some time. Out of the starting eleven now, but I think there will be plenty of game time for him. I’m definitely not writing any player off just because of a bad start. As long as they’re the players we have, all we can do is wish them well - in between all our complaining.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he starts against Fulham. It’s a short break between Atletico and the next game, so if Iraola is looking for the same type of effort he might have to make a couple of changes.

Have we ever had such a scrabble friendly squad?

Very good win against a very tricky customer. Really pleased with that, on a number of levels.

Just want to comment on the Isak thing, as I think it is a new rule. If a player goes down and the game is paused, even if he doesn’t need treatment he has to go off the pitch and wait for one minute before coming back on.

The rule is designed to stop play-acting.

Ironically, Isak was on the sharp end of the ruling even though he was legitimately hurt, while Atletico play-acted their way through the whole match.

I couldn’t be more delighted that we beat them.
