Post match: Liverpool v Brighton (EPL 30/22/21 3pm)

I wouldn’t say Fabinho though…I am leaning towards an understudy to Thiago who can control the game defensively and offensive from deep.

Can i come in here and say bissouma

there u go… workman midfield…if u dont have the finess at least have your pile bucket and helmet. unfortunately OX and jones are lukewarm in both workrate and finesse

Time for Michael Edwards to work his voodoo!

We’d need to replace milly this summer… Better get in the replacement 6 months early

Klopp didn’t have much choice to change midfield today in second half unless he done a Southgate or played Tsimikas on left of midfield.

Felt like watching a bunch of chickens running around with the heads cut off.

Brighton were playing like how we tormented our oppositions - stretching the mid and back. Instead, it was our boys in red being stretched all over the park.

Ox and Curtis, instead of slowing down the game and giving guarantee short pass to the teammates, they were pressured and lost possessions way too often. Our boys in the back were out of positions so many times that I have lost count.

I guess we could be annoyed by the performance of our boys, but ultimately, kudos have to be given to BHA, that they ran us totally ragged. BHA players were full of energies, and our boys were just chasing shadows.

I will have to rewatch the match to figure out who to pick…but for now, only Ali have my vote.

(Also disappointed that the LFC fans left before the final whistle…and we were laughing at red Mancs fans.)

this reminds me of when we let salah’s best friend go and not replace him and then lose our entire defence…at times i feel like our transfer folks/owners think they are smarter than they really are

That is way too extreme. The season we won the league, it was something else…

and that is the problem, this lack of choices both in midfield and attack

It was a collective failure. We look tired as the game progressed and that too collectively, not just one or two players. If our chances of winning the league reduces because of this one game, City’s chances are gone too, right? Games like these will happen. Doesn’t mean suddenly Bobby should be phased out or Jones isn’t good enough for us. Just because Ox had an assist and Jones didn’t isn’t an indication that Ox was better than Jones.

In hindsight, lot of decisions would seem wrong, but they were seemed right in the initial 20 minutes or so. Brighton were good and we cannot just ‘control the game and see it off’ every time. There are 11 players playing against us as well, who are willing to put in the shift and can take the game to us, so it’s easier said than done.

Disappointed, but it’s not the end of the world. It’s a long season and anything can happen from here till the end. Just hope Keita’s injury isn’t serious and Thiago and Fab are back, so that we can rotate and rest players and not rush them back from injuries.

I would imagine we know we need another midfielder, but budget is part of it. So rather than bring one in last summer, we will wait until next summer, arguably January if the right one is available, as we have 8 options.

The evolution should be Milner out next, due to age; and then Ox and/or Naby.

Tchoumeni and Bellingham would be excellent additions, and expensive too, but that’s the sort of thing we need to do to strengthen now and also for the long haul.

Naby Keita at this point should either be a luxury option on the bench or sold. The niggles he gets are so frustrating. AOC being upgraded for Jude Bellingham is a nice dream though…

Not really… We offer something that Brighton cant offer… 30 to 40m should do it

To be fair, he looked like he wanted to play on and it was the benches decision to pull him.

The blame has to go to everyone who made the damn call. From the owners to the manager.

Last season was Defence.
This season is Midfield, and offence once AFCON rolls in.

Fuck me, why can’t we do the obvious for once?
