Post match: Liverpool v Chelsea (EPL 4/3/21 8.15pm)

No, not this one. Owen is annoying. I reckon it was Redknapp… not sure anymore…anyway.

I do believe that. But three things besides their form are crucial to get them going in my opinion: our starting CB partnership, better pressing, and better delivery. Strangely, all these three things have a common denominator: VVD and Gomez starting at CB, so that Hendo and Fabinho are in midfield.

Our high line is working best when we have VVD and Gomez. VVD could just outsprint a striker even when starting to contest the ball from a disadvantageous position. We simply don’t have anyone that can do that right now. Gomez somehow would be very naturally partnering him.

That would also help pressing, as we would make the field smaller with the high line, and also we had our best midfielders in midfield-Hendo pressing there was crucial.

Another vital thing for the front three was delivery, which was mainly coming from fullbacks.
Lack thereof isn’t just a matter of lesser form of the fullbacks, it’s again a matter of having Hendo and Fabinho playing in their midfield positions.
It’s clear how Hendo would cover fullbacks when they roamed up the pitch, and how Fabinho dropping to aid the CBs also freed them up to attack, making their delivery better.
These past two months these are two elements we simply lacked, and of course add to that TAA form and Robbo burned out, resulted to a lack of fullback delivery to the front three, ergo less shots.

So then confidence is affected, and the much fewer chances are not taken as often as they would. It’s natural-when you have 10-15 chances, you don’t need all of them to go in, so you’re more relaxed. Just 3 going in is usually more than enough (remember how many games we’d score 3+).
When you only get 3-5 shots, i.e. a couple per forward, then stress prevails, because these need to get in, otherwise the team won’t score. Which causes them to try to shoot from non ideal situations (so many blocked shots I can’t keep track), try too hard, or simply shoot under too much stress and mess up the shot.

That’s hopefully coming all back when we have our full starting 11…

Can someone please tell the fucking manager to put square pegs in square holes? DO NOT PLAY ANYMORE MIDFIELDERS IN DEFENSE PERIOD You signed defenders, PLAY THEM FFS. I’m sick of the fucking mistakes now. Move Fab to midfield to shield the backline as they have NO PROTECTION at the moment. Also, no favorites, please. Firmino has been garbage for a while now, Get him off when he’s shite and play Jota. But the most important thing, play the players in their natural positions PERIOD.

the team look mentally and physically shot.

klopp needs to start making some changes to the formation and personnel, this is lunacy doing the same thing every week.

drop the defence back 10 yards and re-jig the attack. I’d play salah through the middle at the very least, the last two games he’s been stuck out on the touchline and he’s our biggest goal threat.

It was said all Klopps moaning about work load and game timings could have a detrimental effect on players. Make them feel tired this could be backed up with lack of intensity in games.

Obviously, but we are where we are.

You shouldn’t have to fling yourself to the floor to win a pen, but if you try and stay on your feet despite being fouled, you’re not getting it.

Oliver was pretty clear when he said we should have asked for Pickford to be sent off. I’m baffled this doesn’t seem to have understood.

Klopp is probably desperate to play Fab in midfield, but seriously, what can he do?

Ben Davies and Nat Phillips have just started training again. They weren’t fit to start last night.

Our choices were Fab, Kabak and Rhys Williams. And even then Fab was coming back a bit early according to the boss. Do you really want to play Rhys Williams against Chelsea?

Kabak is now injured, but Klopp has Ben Davies and Nat Phillips back again. He could play those two against Fulham. That might be doable.

But let’s not suggest that Klopp had much choice against Chelsea.

Anyone taking bets on how many central defensive partnerships we’re going to play this year?

I think a little league table on that stat would be quite revealing

still very down after not only that game, but the depressing run of home games. It’s taking quite an effort to lift the head up, but I believe in our club and this helps to try to be positive in our current situation. It’s like a bad dream, but I keep hoping that we get out of this rut sooner than soon and I believe in our club YNWA

Totally agree with your post .
I e got the same thoughts

You don’t need to write period before a full stop, or include lots of shouty capital letters, to make a point.

Too right just put lots of swear words in ask @Scott.Jones . To hell with artistic licence to make a point!

Any suggestions on who to play there against Fulham?

We need Fabinho in our defence, the trophies we won recently were firstly because of our defence and conceding very little.

We still concede very few and Adrian has been in goal for us at times. :scream:

Period is also a means of emphasizing whatever was said was final, complete and all there was to say on the topic… Good job we have a forum then so we can take no notice and offer a response… Otherwise, what is the point of having a forum in the first place…
Sincerely Yours,

Might I remind you that the most recent time any of our players tried to protest something to the referee, it was Mané and he got a yellow card for his troubles.

Not sure what we can do if they insist on different standards for us and other teams.
