Post match: Liverpool v Chelsea (EPL 9/5/26 12.30pm)

I know I probably never would , but watching this team play like they haven’t got a clue and don’t give a fuck is seriously doing my head in. It’s so far away from what a Liverpool side should be . It would be negligent bordering on reckless were he to still be here next year. Please God that’s not the case.

I plan to watch less myself. I watched too many games this season. I probably watched too many games the last season too, given that I didn’t really enjoy much of them but at least we were winning (and collective fan euphoria helped making it sort of fun even though I didn’t enjoy the actual games that much)

Next season I am going to stick to highlights and live score and reading reports from people on the forum. I am going to watch the big games and likely more, but if Slot stays I won’t watch Liverpool vs Burnley or Fulham or Sunderland etc. That is subject to change obviously, Slot regime staying and form.

But I am tired of watching games I don’t really enjoy watching myself. It’s a waste of life, far worse than cigarettes. At least you mostly enjoy those.

MacAllister had a 10 minute spell yesterday when he either remembered he was a professional footballer or wanted a red-card so he wouldn’t have to play in the last 2 games.

Unfortunately I think that only comes into play if Villa end the PL season in 5th.If they come in 4th, then the 6th place team doesn’t get CL, in that circumstance. Right now, we look like we might struggle to retain even the 5th spot.

I was about to type the same thing…The disconnect between the groups of players is extremely worrying.

Yeah I was going say the only player who seems to get it is VVD.

But yeah Gomez comments were spot on too, how can they think this is good? Do they enjoy their European travels too much?

Give up international football if you enjoy that too much then you’d have 3 breaks a season.

However, if Villa win the Europa League and finish fifth in the Premier League, then the top four in England qualify, Aston Villa qualify via solely the Europa League, and then the coefficient spot gets awarded, meaning the sixth place team in England goes to the Champions League.

I booed when Rio got subbed. I booed at the end.
I felt that I needed to express my opinion on what I was seeing.

Question how do you feel when a player like Grav says that after watching 90 minutes of that?

Handball Henry talking about standards hey?

Done a whole country out of a good chance of World Cup qualification.

At least when Maradona done it, you didn’t really see him popping up again giving opinions on football matters. Mostly was only self-destruct stories after that. He will at least though be remembered as one of the greatest ever football players and in brackets after (cheating twat)

In Ireland, sure. The rest of world don’t care.

Why doesn’t this apply (6th place in CL) if villa finish 4th? In genuinely lost at the criteria for the spots?

Shameful Liverpool Fans Letting Everyone Down – Anfield Crowd Is Now Reds' Own Worst Enemy

That opening paragraph is as unhinged as that petition.

I’ll say the Rio thing was probably not on but the performance deserved booing and I don’t think it got better watching it from the stands.

Anyhow who the hell boohoos that as a hard luck story, let’s be bluntly honest we had two big chances. Our expected goal ratio was 0.55. I thought the guy was all about metrics?

It was atrocious and effectively two bald men fighting over a comb. We got a point and that’s all we deserved.

If they finished fourth then they would be qualified for the CL anyway. The fifth spot is available due to the coefficient but if Villa win the EL then the that spot that’s available through the coefficient would drop down to sixth.

Them finishing fourth and winning the EL however would mean that there’s nothing pushing that coefficient spot down so it would remain the top five teams getting into the CL next season.

Not exactly sure where the real MacAllister has gone…

so much dissatisfaction, disappointment in the game. Really questioning why the players were given time off, when all they have to do is play once a week now, with the only incentive is to finish in the top four/five positions. It felt at times, that the players were geared up to playing in the Eredivise ( no disrespect to the Eredivise), but the intensity and pressure is different in the EPL.
Sadly, our lads don’t look like they enjoy playing atm, which is in a very sharp contrast to the last few years.

One other thing that pissed me off, is that, everytime Palmer got the ball, and knew that he would be challenged, he fell onto the ball and got a free kick. I am sure that frustrated our players that the ref., fell for it, every time.
Rather galling to know that chelski were on a losing streak and we ended that streak for them, besides knowing that they have a manager on the touchline who isn’t a qualified coach/manager

I could go on and on and on, but I also need to keep me head, and think of better times gone by, and hopefully better times to come back sooner than soon

Actually, anyone with a brain in Ireland doesn’t give a fuck about Henry either to be honest. If an Irish player did it at the other dnd the same malcontents would be still celebrating the cunning of it. Henry has an interesting viewpoint, rare in current pundits.

I don’t know about raging, he seems quite calm. He’s Italian, they do tend to talk with their hands.
