Post match: Liverpool v Chelsea (EPL 9/5/26 12.30pm)

Actually Brentford do not want to beat Liverpool and will want to stay 6th because if villa win the Europa league they will give the 5th CL spot to whoever is in sixth.

Nothing we didn´t know. No matter which players we put out, it´s not very good.

Chelsea werent very good but they passed straight through us a few times and we got away with a few.

We created very little as always and saw barely any passing play. Frimpong was lively but lacked quality.

Rio looked promising at least and I thought Jones showed why he should stay and should have been in our midfield for the last few games. He´s a player who gets on the ball and passes forward. Our other midfielders are all incapable of it. Dom huffed and puffed and chased the keeper down needlessly but again, did nothing with the ball.

Loved them booing Slot when Rio came off. Hopefully our fans can put more pressure on the owners to get rid of him

I will not have it all these sudden spate of injuries to players playing next month in the World Cup and slot accepting the situation.

Well, this version of Liverpool always gives encouragement to teams who are struggling.

Slot is so generous. From telling other people how poor are we in dealing with long balls to actually giving them points. I just hope he does that with his next team after us.

The team is set up in the worst possible manner. 4 midfielders with 1 playing as a Pseudo TAA. 4 defenders with 1 playing as a winger with no space to run to.

The opening goal was surprisingly good with Gravenberch given all the time to shoot with Rio taking the attention off him.

The rest was just pure shit. Open gaps in the centre of the park, failing to track players defensively, poor final third movement.

The subs were bizarre and late as well. The crowd were seeing Rio and Konate moving normally and had shown no indications that they had cramps. No wonder, the crowd booed when Rio went off for Isak when the more obvious sub would be Gakpo for Isak.

Persisting with Frimpong at RW with no space to run to is exceptionally brain dead. Frimpong’s best ability is his acceleration with the ball and the ability to overlap and put in crosses. Why not put in Frimpong as FB, Chiesa/Morrison at RW and Gakpo/Rio/Chiesa at LW with Isak as CF and sacrifice Macca/Gravenberch as Jones can also operate there?

Why not keep the shape, shuffle the pack and take a risk?

At least, Klopp had the courage to own up to his mistakes, take a calculated gamble with the squad players, didn’t gaslight the fans and got rewarded with the patience of the fans.

Cant beat a dire Chelsea or spurs at home…or burnely…or forest…or leeds
Bournemouth and brighton winning.
We arent there yet. Villa and Brentford have a great chance of beating us.

Champs league and keep Slot
No champs league and sack Slot??

Neither matter in terms of changing what is happening to the club unless it aligns with what I’m about to say

What I KNOW for a fact is that if THIS situation is allowed to carry on, we will not only be not making any European spots, we are not far off from going into a Spurs-like situation next season.

I kid you not. I’m reading the room at Anfield.

Good point. Maybe we will end up relying on Villa to win the final too by the look of things

Slot does not have the right personality to sarcastically juggle with the media… I feel he is losing friends fast on a weekly basis, I also feel he is just treading water now with his full on bullshit remarks (such as just wait until next season) in the ‘pulling the wool over our eyes’ hope it garners him some time to stagger through next season… The guy has been ruthlessly exposed as nothing more than a chequebook manager, that can’t even get his expensively assembled squad to sing from the same tactical hymn book…
I do feel he will be here next season, and once we see zero improvement after a few weeks… his bullshit excuses will continue to get more bizarre as a deflection against his own incompetence… I just hope to fuck he doesn’t bring Wayne Lineker on to his staff as some sort of ‘feelgood cheerleading guru’ to improve upon the miserable mood of the club he has created under his tutelage

What a disappointing result again. We were great for 20 minutes. This team has zero killer instinct to seal the game. They score and then, just sit deep and allow other teams to come at us.

Slot has lost the majority of the fanbase now. I never seen a manager booed like that before.

Injuries or no. That is Slot in a nutshell. Strayed from Klopps play to this.

It’s not even hard to understand. With our fans slow will never work. Passion off the pitch needs passion on. Anything else is a mismatch.

Xabi or whoever needs to know it.

In the reverse fixture the freedom of the pitch afforded to Cucurella was largely blamed on Mo not doing any defensive work. Today he had just as much room. Slot knew that’s how they’d play. Mo the scapegoat was not present. Yet we still struggled to deal with him.

There seems to be an important lesson in that.

I had to curb my swearing today as there were some enthusiastic and very knowledgeable young Reds sitting near me today. And then one of them (can’t be more than 8 or 9) went “for fook’s seak”

Yup, we pretty much played like this today

I’d play Red bird next week.

If we go into next season with Slot and his coaching staff, expect more of the same mediocrity.
I gave MoM to Chiesa, Isak and Gomez because, if the players can look like they don’t give a toss, then so can I,

And his team was always fun to watch during that time of early struggle, I remind everyone. Yes, it took some time with Klopp (not really a lot considering where Liverpool were when he took over, imo), but man was that time entertaining.
We won the league last season, but I was seldom energised even when we won for a reason. What we can never forget is that getting results is one thing, but people watch football because they like sports and find football a very entertaining sport. When it is no longer entertaining even if we win or lose, emotionally you are on auto-pilot as a fan and just hope for those tiny dopamin inputs indicating we won. But really, most would also like to enjoy the game.

Positively, we out-xGd them today. 0,56 to 0,50.
