Some well reasoned takes there.
At least some get it. The establishment has always been booed.
Of course those at the forefront today of criticism were happy to boo players taking the knee
We agree then that âgammonâ is an insult based on skin colour.
We disagree that an insult based on skin colour is racist. You believe it isnât. I believe it is.
I also agree that you canât help me.
I know now from your reply that I certainly canât help you.
There is nothing left to say.
Was it us that booed the hymn? I honestly thought it was coming from the plastic end.
Why does Ibra wear âhot pantsâ when everyone else wears shorts I wonder :0))
Reminded me of one of the strangest quotes from a commentator in extra time, went something like âYou can tell Thiago is tired, heâs pulled up his shortsââŚ
I understood the booing to be taking a stand against those in authority, and protesting against an outdated Royal Family, and more specifically, the government. If Boris was there he would have received a lot more than William. William was representative of the establishment, so he got it, but it wasnât especially personal to him or the Royal Family, for that matter.
As for Abide with Me, I took that as general booing of the pomp and ceremony of the occasion, which undergirds the establishment. I didnât take it as booing the hymn itself, per se.
Itâs from Charles Dickens. He described a character whose face flushed red when he was having a self-righteous rant has having a âgammon tendencyâ.
The pertinent question isâŚwould a black person ever be referred to as a gammon? If not, then it is a racist insult isnât it?
Anyway not the most important issue but an interesting question nontheless.
Its generally not considered racist, but is seen as an insult to red faced pompous right wing males.
I imagine in this instance the reference is to Tory supporters who consider the booing of the National Anthem to be a hangable offence.
As long as itâs not the one where he mentions the war, i mentioned it once but I think I got away with it.
I think I wouldâŚ? But then again I donât really see race in the way most people do soâŚ
Looks like heâs squeezing out a fart.
Heâs praying he doesnât follow through
Youâre simultaneously missing the point and also delegitimising actual racism. So well done on that.
Are we still allowed to call Sir Alex, bacon face?
Asking for a friend.

Just call him old whiskey nose
Or the drunk cunt
I was about to say that
