So, because Elliot was crying on the pitch at that moment, it’s a foregone conclusion that he’s leaving?
He can still be a very valuable squad player for us going forward, and I’d expect him to stay at this point.

It’s coooooming home, it’s coming…football’s coming home…
The Dutch have just been playing the long game ever since the end of the Second Anglo-Dutch war when they ceded control of New Amsterdam to the Colonial Brits.
I wonder exactly when they were able to turn Frank Skinner…
I am not that concerned about Jones’ performance. He is just an average homegrown quota squad fodder for Mac, Szobo and potentially Wirtz with low ceiling.
He hasn’t got a look in this season, and we’re adding Florian Wirtz in the position he plays.
I think at this stage, it’s about 99% that he leaves.
IF Wirtz comes in, that is. All we’ve heard so far are rumours, albeit from a few usually reliable sources to be fair.
Also, I suppose that if a good offer comes in, the club won’t say no, but I’d be surprised if they agree to sell him on the cheap. A good, 22 years old homegrown player, worth already ± ten goals and assists a season, and only likely to improve from now on.
I may be alone on this, but I’d look to keep him, notwithstanding whomever comes in this summer.
He isn’t going to get better now at Liverpool because he simply isn’t going to get the pitch time. He is at an age where he needs to be playing regularly.
Arguably he has regressed this season, and aside from the PSG goal, the moments that really stand out are him not making the most of the few chances he has had.
For his sake more than anything he needs a move, as we know he is a potentially very good player. We can’t keep hold of players like him just on the off chance we might need them.
I’m really sad for him. He’s a boyhood red, and this was his dream move but it just hasn’t worked out.
I would see if he and Leverkusen would be interested. That could be a great move for him.
Consider Harvey’s comments too. As the season played out he was full of fight, and talked like a man who was determined to stay and fight for his place. By the end of the season it was different, and he was talking like a man who loves the place, the club, and everything about it… but reluctantly will have to move on for the sake of his career.
I don’t know what conversations have happened. Maybe Slot has just been straight with him and said you are a good player, but you won’t play much next season if you stay? Or maybe there has been no conversation, and Elliott just saw how much he played this season, then thought about the signings we are making, and the likelihood of falling further down the pecking order, and reached his own conclusion?
Nothing is done, so we are guessing, albeit reasonable guesswork based on the evidence we have. Harvey is a great red and a smashing player, but the likelihood is he will move on, and he will get nothing but the best wishes of all Liverpool fans, and a rousing reception whenever he comes back with his new club, if that’s how it pans out.
Maybe it’s just me, but I’m a bit surprised at how many people have given up on the lad already, considering his young age. Next season might be his break-out season for all we know, with him playing every game, a bit like Gravenberch this one. Who would have predicted such a spectacular evolution from Gravy when watching him play last season? Who is to say that Elliot can’t suddenly explode and realize his potential with us?
Of course, I state this in the full knowledge that Slot will know much more than us about his development curve, and wether he has a chance to develop further with us or not. My surprise comes rather from the fact that some fans on here seem to have decided that he won’t develop beyond his current level as long as he stays here. That seems a bit far-fetched to me.
I think for most it is a reasonable reading of the tea leaves based on his use. I am personally not ready to write off either him nor Chiesa, but with how little they were used even once everything was wrapped up I think you have to strain harder to find a story where Slot sees important roles for them than you do to simply conclude that this is where he wants to upgrade next year.
I think the tea leaves are too murky for that, at least with his interview at the parade Chiesa didn’t sound like someone who had been told that he’s on the way out…
We are, arguably, a top 5 club in the world. Many very good players are going to come through our club, to play for one of the world’s best. Also, a good number of those players are not going to be quite quality enough to be an integral part of our first team. Those players will move on, find their level, and, hopefully, go on to have successful careers.
That injury really did damage his flow. I do think without it he may have held down his position.
Wasn’t it possible to do the title lift somewhere in the stands?
I doubt any fans would have wanted to move for it.
Yeah letting the players onto the field - it’s a disgrace!
