Post match: Liverpool v Everton (EPL 2/4/25 8pm)

I have never understood why the media use that line in an effort to justify the ref’s inaction.

It’s not the ref who is “ruining the game” by correctly enforcing the rules; it’s the player who is “ruining the game” by breaking them.

The media, as is so often the case, enforces the status quo; a simple change to the (correct) narrative would soon see an end to such challenges.

Blame the player, not the ref.

That is not to say, of course, that the referee is absolved of all responsibility if he doesn’t issue a red card in these circumstances.

Yep
The notion is that the game is uneven from early, effecting the spectacle. Add that to a biased/corrupt/useless set of officials and you get a potential leg breaker early doors.

Moyes must know thisand I’m convinced thats why those early “tackles” occur.

It was posted on the BBC feed but it was suggested Tarkowski has never been sent off?

Doubt that can be right…

Liverpool released this graphic the other night celebrating their 100th Merseyside derby victory against Everton. The graphic included Jordan Pickford’s howler against Divick Origi back in 2018

He’s the only non-red in that graphic.
7 years later and it still makes me laugh, it’ll never stop being funny.

not a fan of that. It’s alright showing Origi’s goal but not Prickford’s face.

Origi’s reaction is only half the story of that goal. You need Pickford there for full context. His face is removed too I’ve noticed while zooming in. Guess the post got edited out.
