Post match: Liverpool v Everton (EPL 2/4/25 8pm)

My maths is not great, but 4 more wins are needed to declare ‘it’ right?:grimacing:

Don’t do it to yourself.

You know the Bitters will only put in a fraction of the effort against Arsenal that they do against us.

That puts us on 85 points.
Max that Arsenal can get is 85 if they win all their games and our goal difference is much better.

The referees and match officials have their agenda straight.

Deprive Liverpool of points so that the title race becomes closer than it should be. They screwed us out of the title last year and made us lose points against Bitters , Fulham this season. The title race in all probabilty would have been over with fairer refereeing.

There’s no way Arsenal is getting beyond 80. 3 wins practically gets us the title.

Just as I turned on my pirated stream, Jota scored.
It’s indisputable I made the difference on the night.

The most remarkable being my stream was a few minutes behind, meaning I had an impact through the fabric of time itself!

So @Bekloppt, your call for Jota to come off at half time didn’t have the effect you purport. I can’t let you off with this blatant subreption.

If we both end up on 85 points, it is likely that Arsenal’s goal difference would be better than ours.

However, that would mean that Arsenal win every game and we lose 4 times as many as we have all season.

Fulham against Arsenal looked like they were coasting till end of season.

You are, obviously, the expert in superstitious nonsense on here. Please adjudicate.

Was Jota’s goal caused by;
A, Me calling for him to be substituted at half time, or
B, Mackie turning on his device after the goal had been scored?

Looking forward to your considered judgement.

Yellow card for a tackle that almost broke Mac Allister’s leg, whereas Jones was sent off for a similar but much more innocuous challenge at Tottenham. They simply make it up as they go along, especially when it comes to Liverpool.

The game itself was a turgid affair with the exception of 20 minutes in the second half, during which we decided to play football instead of lethargically passing it around at a snail’s pace. In any case, we were still a level or two above the bitters. Diaz was the standout with Van Dijk and Robertson rolling back the years in the second half.

All in all though, even though we were clearly better, we remain far from our best. And Slot continues to do my head in with how he is using, or not using his subs.

Unfortunately, we now live in a society where there are apologists for murderers, rapists, paedophiles etc.
Always someone looking to find an excuse/influencing factor for them doing it

I’ve yet to see a single pundit, commentator or journalist think that tarkowski challenge was anything but a clear red. The only two people who didn’t were the ref and the VAR.

I cannot for the life of me see how, based on the wording of the law, it is not a red card.

Any player who lunges at an opponent in challenging for the ball from the front, from the side or from behind using one or both legs, with excessive force or endangers the safety of an opponent is guilty of serious foul play.”

It’s a lunge with excessive force that endangers the safety of a player. Two full time professional officials have looked at that and have come to the conclusion it’s not serious foul play. And we’ll never get an explanation from them as to why or an ounce of contrition that they got it wrong. If we get to hear the VAR chat it’ll 100% be “he plays the ball first and the follow through is just a coming together” despite the fact playing the ball is irrelevant.

How Moyes has got the gall to go on TV and moan about the offside rules being applied correctly when his player has gotten away with that is a joke.

And watch those pricks in blue rollover for Arsenal at the weekend now. Bet you don’t see any of this shithousery going on.

I’ve decided to refer to me putting Dua Lipla who also was on in the Soton second half.

Fair is fairs.

BBC article further up even has four comments from the messages and they are all saying it was a red too.

I’m not sure anyone in the world of football thought it was a yellow.

I assume that independent panel will have it on its list of mistakes but who knows. Maybe they are as blind.

As someone mentioned earlier he made 3 subs its not required to make all 5.

I’m convinced they both know it’s a red card.

Sam Barret is a new, inexperienced referee taking his biggest game. He will be desperate to show that he is not going to be influenced by the famous Anfield crowd (like they all fucking are) and probably under some pressure to manage the occasion.

Paul Tierney, who actually has been alright since Klopp left, just doesn’t want this young referee to have the embarrassment of being ‘sent to the screen’. He is doing his mate a solid, and the rules a secondary to that.

This is the biggest problem with VAR. These insecure, fragile pricks view it as a threat to their authority and an affront to their ego. We know they don’t like being sent to the screen. They see it as a threat to their authority. They’ve talked about doing their mate a favour by not asking him to take another look.

It seems like there are really only two ways forward with this.

The first option is to make VAR operationally independent of the match officials. Have it staffed by a separate refereeing board who don’t care about hurting the ickle feelings of the ref.

The second is to to put VAR at the disposal of the referee. Instead of it being a threat and challenge to their authority the can instead see it as a tool at their disposal. I want Barrett to be able to see at the Tackle last night and think, I might like another look at this one just to be sure I saw what I think I saw.

With this there would need to be a review board that is scoring and demoting referees for persistent poor decision making. If referees are making bad decisions and not using VAR to help, that should be counting against them when it comes to their future employment.

Why isn’t this being discussed enough by the pundits ?

Someone needs to call out Prickford for being a dangerous serial offender who has shown that he’s happy to end careers.

Worst of all is the fucking cliche by Moyes and ex-players.

“Back in my day it would have been OK.”

Total bollocks. Stone wall red today, 10 years ago, 20 years ago, and even 30 years ago.

The reason why Tarkowski gets away with that 30 years old is because thirty years ago there isn’t a lad watching fifteen replays of it to decide if it’s a red.

Can you imagine how many red cards Souness gets if everything is being reviewed by VAR.
