Should be a retrospective ban for something like that, instead itâs the usual âWeâre sorryyyyyâ.
I might be the only one, but Iâd rather they apply the same or an even laxer standard for Evertonâs next gameâŚ
Donât think Prickford knows how to injure any other teams players
This is so massive. Twelve points ahead and a better goal difference with eight games to go.
I stopped watching the game directly after seeing Tarkowski yet again come away with what could have been a leg-breaker. Macca is very, very lucky to still be in one piece today. How does the ref not give a red for that? And letâs not talk about VAR. I canât take this kind of things anymore.
Anyway, this ugly win is decisive. We will be this yearâs PL champions, and it will be no less than what this squad deserves.
this is the ultimate proof that a lot of refs are totally incompetent and they have an agenda against us
And yet in rugby all the officials view it as a way of ensuring they reach the right conclusion. Thereâs zero ego around its use despite some of the refs having sizeable opinions of themselves.
They call to use it when they feel they need to but the TMO is also able to raise attention to clear things the ref has missed. Theyâll make the ref aware and heâll simply blow up and give the decision the TMO has brought to his attention. No second guessing, no need to review, just trust in the other person. But theyâre also comfortable enough to go back to them whilst the game continues and say they saw it and are comfortable with continuing play.
Theyâre an officiating unit where the ref leads but trusts and welcomes the support of others as theyâre willing to accept they canât see and judge everything perfectly.
We donât need an independent set of VAR officials. I think that would just create more of an âus and themâ attitude where the on field officials wonât welcome that input. Instead it needs existing officials to change their attitude and welcome the support that ultimately ensures more decisions are judged correctly.
Donât even care about the performance. Just glad to see the back of the thugs for this season. 3 points is a bonus Iâll happily take.
Yeah need to get rid of the PGMOL and bring in the raras. We might see a few 7 a side games early on as players challenge refs and forget the âsirâ but I think by the end of the season there would be no wanting to go back.
Always nice to be able to get through a derby at Anfield without the Everton fans singing about Hillsborough. Was a common occurrence 5 years ago but seems to have died out, which I think is important for the city. Credit where credit is due.
Great three points too. Anyone still nervous about the league is a lunatic.
I admire your sacrifice. You suffered so that we might be victorious.
May your belly be always full and your trousers always the right length.
Yes and we got very little fom Mo today and the last few games, so we didnât know what we were getting, you spout shite as usual
Down to me saying that he had been more effective at the start of the 2nd half and hey presto he scored
Too late. It was Mattyâs Dua Lipa suffering that caused the goal.
Heâs like one of those martyrs painted by Caravaggio. Indifferent to his own pain as long as his fellows prosper.
Inspirational stuff!
For me Tarkowski should have seen red for his foul on McAllister.
The same with Pickfordâs foul on Darwin.
Yes, the ref blew the whistle. Tell me what would have happened if Pickford had punched Darwinâs face instead kicking him in his legs?
Same situation like years ago when Pickford injured Virgil.
I donât get it.
The day after. Fuming over Tarkowski. Big error by the ref. Monumental error by Tierney on VAR, to the point that âerrorâ does not adequately describe his inaction, especially with all the previous. An inquiry is definitely needed, and ideally they rip up the PGMOL and establish a new thing, fit for purpose.
The culture is all wrong. Itâs about them protecting each other, us v them, circle the wagons, be unaccountable, etc. That all needs to go, for the good of the game.
The performance wasnât great, but how could it be, if Everton are allowed to play like that? So the main thing was getting the three points, and to do that we had to be strong and determined. We passed that test very well indeed and got what we needed.
Tarkowski should not have even been on the pitch when we scored. Diaz was in an offside position, but since he made no attempt to play the ball he was correctly deemed not interfering with play. A sharp looking Jota did his thing - touch, cut left, cut right, bam. 1-0.
Everton will put 50% of that effort into the Arsenal game. Itâs why they are 15th.
Edit
Good shout on Pickford, above. He should have seen red, but amazingly Darwin gets yellow after being scythed down with a full blooded kick. Beto might have seen a second yellow for his high and dangerous kick on Kelleher too. Horrible team.
Having played both sports in my younger days and an avid fan too I find that relationship between rugby players and their officials leads to far better outcomes on the field. The antagonistic way it plays out in football is one of the many grim things about football that only seems to get worse.
But I guess what youâre saying here is that without Tarkowski we might not have scored?
Ok, Tarkowski on Macca - Clear red. Everyone agrees. Even ex Everton pundits. No argument. How VAR missed that is a mystery.
Beto second yellow on Kelleher - Would have been harsh. He was looking the other way. Reckless maybe, but not enough intent to send him off.
Jota goal - Diaz stops when he realises heâs offside. Donât think he interferes with play. Good decision, but if it happened against us there would be plenty of protests.
Pickford on Darwin - That is assault. I donât care whether the whistle had gone, its not allowed to physically attack an opponent at any time.
Red card for attempted gbh.
Darwin yellow - I get it. He cynically rolled on to the pitch, but Pickford didnât even get a yellow for his attack? Weird.
Arne noted this in his pre-match press conference for Fulham. Itâs the rule, but he doesnât like that rule.
