Post Match: Liverpool v Everton (EPL 20/2/21 5.30pm)

I’ve heard suggestions Kavanagh wasn’t checking the pen, he was checking whether it was a red card.

Don’t know what to make of that.

Ha ha. I remember that. Ball was initially 2 yards in Everton’s half, Kavanagh turns round to walk away, and the Everton player picks it up and throws it a good three meters ahead of him.

As soon as I saw that, I knew Kavanagh would just let them then launch it into the area.

I think you are right. He was probably asked by VAR to check whether accidental or not.

If accidental (according to IFAB), it should have been a yellow. If deliberate, of course it should have been a red. That would also explain why he only glanced at it and could see that it was accidental.

Did he get a yellow?

You could see it against Everton he was itching to get forward, be everywhere, carry the team on his shoulders, it brings tears to my eyes just contemplating the frustration he must be feeling. He wants to be in the thick of it, you can see it, and that doesn’t help his CB partner, in fact the opposite. He’s our rock, our dynamo, we will miss him these next few weeks, we just don’t seem to have anyone else left who can lift the team despite the efforts of TAA, Robbo and Mané (who needs to start scoring again). There’s Jota to look forward to however at the moment our whole philosopy and metal seems devastated. There’s reason for this slump that run to the core of our club. It’s not individuals its the whole that’s damaged.

It works well in rugby to hear the conversations in real time. There’s still controversy (though nowhere near as much) but at least transparency

So Trent gets knee’d in the back of the head, penalty given against him and the ref was only checking to see if it was worthy of a red card?! Maybe if he got knee’d in the back of the head a bit harder and drew blood he might just have been sent off. Absolute fucking joke

Marriner was on VAR. Given his fucking disgusting performance in our game at Southampton in the New Year it wouldn’t surprise me one bit if he’d suggested it might be a red.

Just one thing to get off my chest. Yes we have been unlucky with ref and var decisions this year but it’s up to us to play our way out of it. There is no substitute for putting the ball in the back of the net and we havnt been doing that enough…time we manned up.
