Post match: Liverpool v Fulham (EPL 12/9/26 3pm)

No idea who was really driving the choices, Slot may have had input, but yes, really not his role.

The odd thing is that the more the team became Slot’s team, the less successful it was. Slot curb-stomped the league with the team he inherited from Klopp, and saw it deteriorate from there.

However, I have no concerns about Iraola being on a short tether facing pressure. There is no way he was hired without everyone involved reviewing and understanding the difficult transition period he had at Bournemouth. His expectations for this season are probably qualify for the CL, and make it to the knockout rounds in this year’s CL. No one will be reviewing that before May.

By time he comes our season could be dead in the water if we cannot sort this midfield issue.

Why Trey isnt getting game time ive no idea.

Weve now dropped 4 points at home to teams who will be in bottom third.

Its only clear because you want it to be seen to be that way nobody has any idea on who drives transfers.

We’ve never been in it, in my opinion. The squad just isn’t up to the task. Four league games into the season and players are looking tired???
The title is between Arsenal and City, probably Arsenal.
Tuesday’s game against Spurs should be good. One team who can’t score goals and the other team which is ā€˜knackered’.

Sorry everyone..didn’t see or hear any of the game…a steam and classic car rally got in the way…on reading this thread…perhaps it was a good thing…

They didn’t look ā€œtiredā€ to me. Just a bit clueless. Tired is a lame excuse.

Anyone who has played team sport will know you can’t just slot in several new players and expect to be firing on all cylinders.. It takes time. Anyone who expected them to be challenging for the top spot this season is deluded. Top 4 or 5 will be a very acceptable outcome. It will take a couple more windows to build a title challenging squad…

If a top five finish was offered to us now, I would be very happy.

I swear every Liverpool manager since Houllier has been urged to use the tired and fatigued excuse asap.
I’m giving Iraola a pass the whole season regardless of how it goes but 5 games in?
This international break will kill them. The Dutch have 4 games so we know at least 3 of our lads will start every one. I’d imagine all the other lads will face a similar workload.

How does Alison cover nearly 6km? That half of the outfield players!

Just checked. That’s normal!

One study - almost none of the keeper’s distance looks like running. In the first study, keepers spent 73% of the match walking, covered only 56 metres at high intensity, and sprinted an average of just 11 met

And Anfield is an issue. Not because the crowd get nervous. Because sides go low block, fast break. That’s exactly how to play us.

Sorry but no liverpool manager should be given a pass after 4 games for the whole season, we have a squad on paper should be challenging for all titles and cups, if we are giving iraola a pass after 4 games maybe the club should just pack it all in.

Isak and wirtz should not have been brought for the prices we paid, Hughes & Edwards have done a load of damage to this club, and we had to sack a pl winning manager, which given how last season ended was probably right , but here we are with yet another Ā£120 plus million player…and we have 6 points ( 6 off from this time last year)…really need iraola to start doing what he was brought in to do, if he can’t, quite simply he will be gone by seasons end .

I disagree. Iraola has inherited a squad with glaring deficiencies all over the pitch. Supposedly top international players who can’t pass a ball 10 yards or do the basics. Only they can rectify that.
No manager on the planet can fix that. He can only organise them and try and instil a style of play.

It is quite surprising, but we tend not to look at the keepers unless they are directly involved in the action.

Random thoughts

  1. its early, but our Ā£400m attack doesn’t seem to have much chemistry with each other ..

  2. we could of had Cherki for £40m instead of Wirtz

  3. Wirtz and Etitike have a better connection than Wirtz and Isak.

  4. Im already concerned about Barcolas finishing. He really should of finished one of his chances already and had his 1st liverpool goal.

  5. its early but running the attack through Wirtz in the 10 role isnt really working in the 4231. Isak is also more isolated.

I still think a 433 is better and worth a look.

Three headed monster of Barcola Isak Gakpo (munoz) will be more dangerous in that formation and less dependent on Wirtz

I think if Macca starts then we win yesterday, but he can’t start every match.

And that leads to another question. What happens to the system when Florian needs a break or gets injured which will inevitable happen to any footballer at a certain point? We are so dependent on one player for the entire creative output to make the whole team work smoothly that even if we do get the entire system working how it was originally envisaged, Flo represents the single point of failure

Ah I’m glad there is calm sanity still being adopted.

I think I’m done with this place.

I said earlier that when I watched the match last night, I felt we were terrible and then I had a good night sleep and after waking up, I think we were just fucking shite. Now that I have calmed down, I realised that we are unbeaten in 4 PL games!!! And then saw that with that, we only have 6 out of a possible 12 points! We are fucking shite! I was right after all!

We had a poor game didn’t play well, things didn’t work as they should and so on.

The idea we should completely ignore the game prior and assume we are fucking shite and we need 8 players again is silly though.

It’s going happen… remember Klopp and WBA that was surrounded by equally uninspiring performances but also good ones.

It’s how you finish not how you start.
