Post match: Liverpool v Galatasaray (UCL 18/3/26 8pm)

Imagine being a loser team who couldn’t make it into the last 8 of the CL.

Stupid losers.

Really wanted to vote for Ali :squinting_face_with_tongue:

That performance has set the standard, no feeling sorry for ourselves, great energy, created chance after chance, didn’t take them, but we kept at it and never let our heads down.

Salah was very good but the penalty miss weighed heavy on why he wasn’t in my motm, but loved his 2nd half performance from him, he actually came out gritted his teeth and put one away, probably his hardest chance.

Nice to get a good win, playing positive football on the front foot. Long may it continue.

Loved Ekitike’s performance as he was a threat both to feet and in behind today and he played with great pace and skill, when he uses his pace he is electric, sometimes he plays too easy

Excellent performance. Gives me confidence that we might actually beat PSG.

I wonder if the crowd’s reaction after the Spurs game got through to Slot and made him decide to ditch the safety first approach? Whatever, I’m sure we all want to see more of it.

I actually enjoyed watching that. They played like they cared about it.

At galatasaray after the game our players went past their changing rooms to go and do the warm down session, I am sure they were irked by their loud and OTT celebrations as if they were already through hence why today no need to be worried about motivation.

Yeah, exactly. I wasn’t even sure if it would be worth getting out of bed for after recent performances, so a pleasant surprise.

Poor form.

The difference in performance from Salah and Ekitike was because this time they were fully hydrated and fed.

One again, the seesaw affect of the media claiming that pressure has been “eased” on Slot because of this win.

Liverpool were never going to sack or keep Slot based on one match, especially one against a Gala team that they should beat at home.

I said in the Pre match that Arne needs to rip up his previous tactics book and to look at today’s game and build from that, if he does he has a chance to stay.

The crowd and us on here were behind him and the players, because of the effort and energy they added to the skill they have, it was relentless pressure.

Shout out to Kerkez, he helped set the tempo as he tackled everything in that 1st 15 mins and completely shut down their right side, we have a special player here and if he learns from Robbo he could go on to be the best.

First where has that performance been, secondly I’m glad it’s happened as it is my belief this isn’t a bad side just badly set up for too long.

I didn’t think we were that far from the ability to perform but it means 11m and that’s all if you don’t turn up at Brighton and do something similar for at least 60 or so minutes.

It’s annoying and delightful at the same time and I wouldn’t particularly buy into the fact it’s only Galatasary because we’ve shown what our stodgy poor performances have done against them, and that’s two 1-0 losses.

Trust me if we had even performed like that in about half our games we would be comfortably third.

Maybe the Boos did get to them, maybe they actually took it on board. Hopefully it drives them on to further success this season. If an Anfield crowd boos you that’s a lot different from a Everton crowd that do it regardless.

No one deserves any criticism tonight, bar that ref who was fucking atrocious.

I think the reaction also got through to the players as well and tonight’s crowd response to that performance should show them what awaits when they play with passion and skill.

Yeah needs his POTY removing :face_blowing_a_kiss:

5XG
32 shots
16 on target
8 big chances

And that’s ignoring the two that hit the woodwork and the Maca goal that was given off side because the Ref is a Cnut.

It’s entirely possible anyhow it ends Friday so we shouldn’t have to worry about that effecting player performance.
