Funnily enough, I was talking to a friend of mine last night and asked him why the front two rows of the stands are unoccupied. He said it was because the signage is 4 inches taller. So the front rows wouldn’t be able to see. ![]()
I recall Trent did his knee in at the Emirates due to the gradient surface and it being wet.
That seemed way more viable for a claim compared to what Galatasaray are threatening.
Can you add the video of Macca’s goal, for surely that was a goal, and not interference with the keeper.
Was the pressing in this game of a higher intensity or was it my imagination because of the result?
We were certainly quicker with the ball, noticed the press at times but it was fast paced.
I didn’t feel our press was of higher intensity. Nearing the end, when they where tired and had had enough of the physical nature of our defence, we made a lot of interceptions.
What I noticed is that the midfield was more physical slowing down their play more with useful shoulder to shoulder interventions rather than hopping aside or making rash tackle attempts. Once Kerkez had shut down their right side Szoboszlai did an immense job over the rest of the pitch slowing them down. He did a lot of defensive organising in midfied as well.
Our lines remained closer than usual there wasn’t a rush to mine 8 players on the edge of the box that noone could keep up with.
Just better defending all round. Even Gravenberch showed some physical prowess.
The finger pointing starts
I must admit I thought he was play acting as he did during the game but when they gave him oxygen then I realised it was serious. However it happened it was a pure accident but Gala want compensation from UEFA if not they intend to sue.
Rewatched the match and I realised that the redmen were constantly moving and creating space, rather than standing and waiting for the passes, which was one of our main issues this season.
Also, we did not dick around at the back inviting pressure in attempting to open up the spaces…there were more long balls forward or diagonally than I could remember this season.
This might have already been mentioned in the pre-match? But I’ve browsed back through every game this season to check starting elevens and this is the first time these eleven could all be selected together for one reason or another.
Probably our best 11 players in the squad on paper and proved it on the pitch last night too.
The Brighton game is next and considering we don’t play again until the FA cup 14 days later, then this could be the only chance Slot can pick this unchanged eleven in consecutive games.
We know he will probably tinker about and make changes, but I really think he should stick with it. Hope that Salah’s precautionary thing is just that and he’s fit again for the weekend!
“The Mighty Reds”
Said to my mate when he sent me the starters, “I really like that side. Probably best Slot can put out with what he’s got.”
This BTL comment from the Echo seems to indicate that UEFA may be liable if Galatasaray choose to take legal action. Maybe there’s somebody on here who could give their insight on this?
Technically, a stadium becomes UEFA’s property and responsibility a number of hours before, during and after the game. The advertising boards are UEFA’s as they are larger than those used by Liverpool for domestic games. It’s also the reason why clubs must cover up or remove their sponsors signage before any UEFA club game.
where have all these players been, or WTF have they been eating to more or less, put such a good performance? Salah did a lot more running with gusto than he normally does. Delighted for him to score a beauty, after missing the pen. Referee showed his inexperience at this level. Really hope the lads can take all the positive attitude from this game to all the games remaining in this season.
surely Isak has something to say about that assumption?
Yeah absolutely, hope he relishes in the challenge of getting that starting striker place ![]()
“When there’s a serious situation at hand that threatens player health, Liverpool is trying to change the agenda.”
Galatasaray’s General Secretary, Eray Yazgan.

Sickening
Just ignore the 2nd part about Madrid
I would stay away from Anfield Agenda. Craig Houlden is as toxic a “fan” as one can get or claim to be.
