Post match: Liverpool v Leeds Utd (EPL 23/2/22 7.45pm)

Assume to break the record it would be Elliott or Tsimkas maybe Konate who has headed the odd one close.

Maybe Becker again

Yeh, what the fuck was that all about? Complete and utter bollox.

Watching the game now properly (without 4 hours lag & constant buffering) on Sky, Diaz again unbelievable performanceā€¦6 on the bounce.

Just snuck in by a lazy 6 goals, that will do nicely, thank you!
Good match all round, very hard for MOTM,but really think Matip this time ,he was really on song.
The minor shuffle up front worked pretty well, too.

Who is the ex Liverpool player with Tyler on sky, Leeds spell of passing it around for 10 minutes when we couldnā€™t be arsed is not getting back into the game I fear it is Fowler but it was rubbish whatever it was.

Anyhow I read the match thread for entertainment before and Jones certainly looked better than was expressed. I think Iā€™m going go for Matip, Salah and Thiago but the whole 11 were fine without needing to reach top gear. After the pen and the offside goal by them it was most relaxing game in a while which is handy as I feel Sunday is going be stressful.

Happy to have the league parked for a week or so the variety of cup games we have allows a break from it and itā€™s good as we can reflect on that knowing the next game is something else entirely.

One thing else I feel Diaz has been unlucky rather than blunt in front of goal. He is such an asset already and he is going get a hattrick one game soon.

Letā€™s face itā€¦ we were always gonna to twat them.
No matter whatā€¦ they are the absolute perfect opposition for us.

Not to get all sliding doors or anything but imagine for a second we play that game and get that result on Boxing Day when we we should haveā€¦

In my eyes there is no fucking way Child MoLeicester City beat us on the 28thā€¦and we are top.

Job done. We had a little break within the game, while also piling on six goals. Amazing stuff really.

Diaz unlucky not to score at the start, Mane running across. But Diaz bright and sharp, heā€™s a player.
Mo brace. Sadio brace. Central defender brace.

Brace yourselves Man Cityā€¦ the reds are on the move.

It is three points [the gap at the top] until the weekend and then City will probably win and then it will be six points.

Jurgen trolling the bitters and laying down the gauntlet.

Jesus, feels like years since I posted on hereā€¦

Anyway I think I found the magic formula. The sound on my stream kept cutting out. I completely missed the first penalty as I couldnā€™t get a working stream.

However after that the sound kept cutting out and out of the six or seven times that happened we scored five times.

So it looks like Iā€™ll be watching games with the tv on mute from now on :man_shrugging:t2::joy:.

Who here likes to fuck?!

It was Stephen Warnock with Tyler tonight. I generally donā€™t mind his commentary but I thought he was a bit effusive with his praise even at 0-3 saying Leeds were ā€œgetting back in itā€.

And regarding Leeds, I realize theyā€™re currently without a few starters but IMO theyā€™re a very poorly coached team. Undisciplined and ragged. I get Bielsa is revered and adored by their supporters but to my untrained eye they play like a group of players that has completely tuned him out and are doing their own thing for 90 minutes.

What do we expect commentators to say? ā€œThatā€™s game over, everyone. Thereā€™s a whole half of football left but thereā€™s no chance of a comeback here, go ahead and switch over to Eastenders.ā€

On the studio claiming Aliā€™s should have received a penalty against him, I saw it the other way and it was James that tripped Ali over, thus the foul should have gone against James instead. :upside_down_face:

3 picks:
1 The Egyptian King: Not just the 2 pens, the assist to Joelā€™s goal, the architech to the 4th goal, his pass to Sadio that got the 2nd penalty, it was his defensive work on sprinting back to nullify a Leedā€™s counter attack early in the 1st half, and repeated the same head-down sprinted back after he gave up the ball in the arracking zone.

  1. Luis Diaz: Like an Engerizer Bunny - Non-stop and purposful running. Drawing Leeds players away to create spaces for Sadio, Mo and others. The outragious pass over his head to Fabinho 5 minutes before the end of 1st half. Almost scored a curler if not for Sadioā€™s head. Itā€™s amazing that heā€™s only a LFC player since January transfer.

  2. Joel: Make use of the space that Leeds gave up in the middle of the park. What a cheeky chip over the keeper for the CB. He also saved Aliā€™s from some embarresment bring alert and quick to pick up the ball before James did. In terms of the Leeds offside goal, Joel was a bit of a culprit near the centre circle. Thus he did not get the 1st or 2nd pick from me.

Kudos to Curtis Jones. After several lackluster outing, and a few early mishaps, I thought that he git a lot more confident and comfortable during the match, and started to use his strength to shield the ball (still work in progress in several instances).

Yeah great game, excellent all around.

Was particularly annoyed by the commentator on the Ali incident saying ā€œJames was too honest there.ā€ What, he should be dishonest? Now weā€™re encouraging lying?

Sure, under contact go down and all that (donā€™t like that at all but it is how things are) but lie to the referee? Fucking hell.

Also it wasnā€™t a penalty. Nowhere near.

Yeah I didnā€™t think it was quite scouse Fowler talks but yeah that spell at 3-0 I donā€™t even think Tyler was buying it to be honest.
