Liverpool vs Leicester Full Penalty shootout…Including all the shithouseary by Kasper the non-friendly ghost.
The clip may get taken down later though.
Yeah, but the rethoric here is a bit: kids needs these games to make mistakes in order to improve…
You do that as youth level, at first team level and at a club like us, we can’t tolerate anything (any mistakes or simply when you see that a player isn’t ready for a challenge of certain type).
It’s rather: LFC needs to both win games and of course think about the future, give chances to young players who merit the most, but put them in carefully, so they have a better chance to impress and keep earning more chances.
So what you’re saying is that Klopp made a mistake by fielding Billy, and corrected it at half time? Or don’t you think that he had that in mind in the first place (replacing him with Konaté at the break)? A bit like bringing Jota in during the game?
He said that he thought Konate has 45 minutes of football (probably doctors said so). I don’t think we have to take Klopp 100% whatever he says. Maybe it was because of Koumetio’s performance (he wasn’t the only one struggling of course, Gomez wasn’t great either, others as well), maybe it was both. But yeah, I think Koumetio at CB against the likes of Vardy and Daka (credit to Rodgers for sensing our issues and fielding both, although as he said, they didn’t have any wingers, so it was also logical)… when I saw our XI, I immediately thought we would struggle a lot with their runs and quality in behind. It’s a shame to almost ruin a game that way and it’s not great for the kid either. He can improve in many ways, he can improve next time against not such a serious opponent. Of course, if he’s smart, he will take this as an experience and learn a little bit from it (I don’t think he can learn much from a one off game like that, he just doesn’t play as often and there are probably good reasons why). But I’d rather he played a few more games at a somewhat lower level than 45 minutes of mistakes against Leicester which also almost costs the team going out.
I think it’s quite easy to see that our subs these days are mostly planned, usually around 45, 60, or 70/75 minutes, and probably around what the medical team have advised us with regards to availability. There are of course the odd tactical tweaks, but it’s mainly about who can play for how long.
I’d almost guarantee, today he’s been with the coaching/technical staff of LFC reviewing video of the first half while it’s still fresh in his memory about the events and his performance. watching what he did, what happened as a result and what he could have done differently. hindsight is 20/20 and that’s not just a catch phrase. it’s a learning tool for many.
Yeah, I don’t doubt that one bit. But also him with himself. Anyway it was too big of a task for the kid and for us. Hopefully next time he’s not needed in such a task and/or he does better.
Looking at the bench for that match, I’m not seeing any better options boss. Sorry you feel that way.
Likely he’s not cut to be a first-team starter here, but everyone gets a chance at some point.
I remember an 18yo kid who had to cut his teeth against Citeh and got a few seasons in before he fucked it up for himself. But at least he was given a chance and made a few dozen appearances for us… and an amazing tackle on Soldado…
He swears on Kane’s kid’s life that it wasn’t a red…
Really, really bad tackle. We could have had no complaints if he was sent off. Just another brutal example of poor refereeing, this time in our favour.
