Really sorry to hear that, mate. My most sincere condolences.
To say we fluked them is a bit much. We were clearly the better side against Villa and deserved the win despite them creating a couple of chances.
Last night we were poor but again I think we were still the better of the two sides. Obviously its a bit fortuitous that Faes knocked the ball into his goal twice but were creating chances to force those mistakes. Had it not been for the early parting of the Red Sea then Iâm not sure Leicester really did anything of note in the game - at least part of that was down to good defending with Trent in particular being outstanding.
The midfield isnât good enough, quick enough or aware enough - I think we all know that - but I think its all working fine apart from that. Really believe that if we can drop in an energetic midfielder then a lot of our troubles will go away.
From a negative point of view we were lucky with the ogs but from a positive point of view we should have scored another 5 or 6 goals.
Sorry about our bad news and your lossâŚbut the other troublesâŚdrink boiled waterâŚcooled of course and eat dried toast and plain food for a few daysâŚ
Has Fabs baby arrived yetâŚ
Yep and already better at dribbling than his dad.
Iâm not going to get hung up over this game. Our defenders were fantastic (Trent Motm- donât think he was beaten all night) but they were let down by the midfield. Hendo played a big part in LCâs goal, and Harvey, who was poor all night, gave them another great chance by not tracking a playerâs run which lead to a shot on our goal.
The midfield came back into the game, particularly when we in all practical senses Ox dropped deeper into a 442. We didnât have a million chances up top but we had a few clear cut chances. On another night, one or two of them might have gone in and we wouldnât have had to rely on Agent Faes to win us the match.
Not a good match but we did enough.
I donât know about that but has already proven he/she can get out of tight areas.
Sorry to hear this FGred my condolences for you and your family.
2022 has been a crap year.
You are right on Villa, Really donât get this âfluked Villa gameâ, they turned up for 25 mins and after their goal they only had one further chance.
We could have had a sackful, yes the game could have turned out different but it could easily have been a cricket score at half time. We fully deserved it and 2 goal margin was the least we deserved.
First half against them was generally good. Yesterday was disappointing but I was pleased with how little they actually created. For all those attacks Alisson didnât actually have many shots to save, did well on a few reactions.
Their goal and a wasted half chance from Barnes are their only two on target.
We were good generally defensively especially in the second but the CM really was a little problematic, did look better when Keita came on and Elliott went further forward. Though Tsimkas helped that I thought.
I thought VVD was generally good again, if Elliott plays he is going have to play in the advance midfield role or attack.
Iâd start Carvalho on Monday if Firmino isnât starting.
Bruuuuuuuutal
Thank you very much I know she was 96 but it is still a shock she could have lived to 100+ but decided to stop eating and drinking deliberately and went on her terms you cannot force them to live on in pain anyway much appreciated
Thanks mate I have tried just about anything lost quite a bit of weight the only positive about it is I can lace my shoes without any obstacle haha
Keep on the plain food âŚ
Thank you sorry for bringing a bit of doom to the forum I am certain 2023 wonât be as bad as 2022 anything bad that you can think off has happened personal as well as external Liverpool winning something would go a long way to bringing a smile back to my face happy new year to you and to all the members of the forum
Somethings are more important than a silly little game it at least allows us to escape for 90 mins.
Hope your 2023 is better
I donât think Darwin âmissedâ those 6 chances? The one taken on the volley from Mingsâ miss kick was a save. Further down your post you mention Alisson saving one on one from Barnes. Surely Barnes missed that one then?
If you have a player whose wife is ready to pop, why approach the game with him specifically being so central to your plan?
If the issues are the same whether or not Fab is on the pitch, maybe all our midfield have become shit. But maybe the issue is more systemic. I think there is merit in the argument that a defensive mid shouldnât need a defense being in good order to protect him to make him look good, but one of the issues weâve seen consistently this season is, and even last is the forwards not defending properly. A key issue in pressing is shrinking the pitch you give the opposition to play in and that starts from the forwards - their positioning and forcing the opposition to play into the areas you want the ball to be in. If you cannot do that (or simply dont do it) there is simply too much space for everyone else to cover and not even a team of Kanteâs can deal with that.
Biggest issue we see, is the numbers game. Itâs very difficult to handle 2v1 in the middle of the pitch. Playing a 3 against four opponents is a no-win situation and makes all three of our midfield look weak. Doesnât help two of the three are over 30.
The energy Bajcetic brought to the pitch was immediately noticable, heâs a spunky player
I saw a fair bit of citing Oxlade for a poor match but I thought he did pretty decently considering his situation. We know heâs gotten a bit brittle so not expecting the tackles we used to see from him, but he was coming back deep to help out Robbo on numerous occasions and I think his role isnât to be the 3rd attacker, but more of a second attacking midfielder with Elliott. Hendo and Thiago playing the deeper two
It is the consistency and I have to say the slight concern I have in comments like Kloppâs from last night. As itâs been far too often weâve lost players hours before a game and yet are we not preparing for this to happen and do we not have a team that can deliver even if we lose one. Certain players are unreplaceable but Fabinho on current form is not.
I hope it was more of an excuse than anything really, Robbo played through pain so potentially itâs something Klopp felt he had to do, we did look better when Tsimikas came on then again it was also the addition of Keita in the midfield.
