I was reading an article and am sure it said 158 years.
Be prepared to be surprised a lot in the coming season. One game played and the same old shit happening, dubious goal against us and the referee missing a clear penalty in our favour. Nothingās changed.
Thats it thoughā¦
Why it took so long to decide on the penalty was a joke. Clear cut handball in the areaā¦seen by the ref and then the waiting for VARā¦
The decision on their goal related to offside or not, with zero reference to Foden fouling Adrian.
I always hope for a bit more equity with decisions but feel sadly demoralised when the season startsā¦if this is the standard set for the season then that doesnāt bode well.
The commentator said they had also looked at the possibilty of a foul by Foden which is why it took so long.
In the bigger picture if weāre starting up this kind of talk in a game that we won, were given a penalty and a favourable VAR decision, why were City not given a soft pen for the Thiago challenge on Mahrez in the box? That would have been oh so easy. Could have easily argued that the handball was accidental. Yet these decisions didnāt go against us - almost as if the ref wasnāt biased, corrupt, or part of a conspiracy against us
New season, same old discussionsā¦
What was the favourable VAR decision we got?
The penalty that shouldnāt have needed a lenghty review?
Also, why not give the foul if they reviewed it? Because, it was a foul on Adrian.
And Thiago on Mahrezā¦in your attempt to even matters up you are making a joke argument. Did you re watch the match to find something with to include as an way of making the decisions even? And then use Thiago on Mahrez as City being evidence if equity?? Very poor attempt by you.
And once again, the default position is conspiracy. At least allow opinion without the usual insult of fucking conspiracy.
At least the penalty was given to us in the end, even though after a long time of hesitation. Progress.
Was it? Sounded like VAR told him heād got his decision wrong and to go and review it, he went and took a look and overturned it within a minute. For me thatās exactly how VAR should work.
As for the match itself, it was a good one for us. The kind of game where nothing is to lose, bar some bragging rights among fans. You lose? Doesnāt matter, itās preparation for the new season etc. You win? Itās a nice shiny shield in the trophy room, a further medal for the players, and the best possible way to look forward to the new season.
Also, it was obvious from the selection, the efforts and the reaction after the goals and the game, that Klopp and the boys really wanted that win, so itās nice to see them get it.
Yeah, thatās what I meant. It took time, but in the end, the correct decision was taken.
Shouldnāt have needed a VAR review. So not really progress.
A lenghty review for a stonwall penalty?
Wasnāt their one where it hit a players hand in our box in the second half, the one City tried to point to when ours was given? ITV made absolutely no fuss of it to be fairā¦ Sky would have shown about 15 replays.
I think all decisions were correct in the end.
I canāt believe all the referee and VAR whinging has kicked off again even before we have played a serious gameā¦and especially when we largely got the benefit of it.
You quite clearly didnāt listen to the commentaryā¦
What irritates me even more is the offside flag not being raised until the other team scores a goal when it clearly is miles offside. In the womanās euros the flag was raised even if there was a bit of a doubt and let VAR review it after.
I canāt believe that you really think we were beneficiaries of anything we were not 100% entitled to.
And where did I say that. I think they got all the decisions 100% correct and what more can you askā¦ and yet.
Anywayā¦
There seems to be a number of posters who dislike referees or VAR being questioned. It irritates them so much that they donāt want discussion on it.
Its a forum where we all offer diverse opinions so maybe allow the argument without the usual hand wringing or conspiracy insults.
Same as in match threads. Fucking drive me mad to see players hammered for simple mistakes etc. But its only opinion, so I accept the right to have it even if I disagree with it.
Thats the nature of forums, discussions etc.
They didnt. City goal shouldnāt have stood.
There you go.
I thought the officials did a good job and the VAR decisions were spot on.
But Iād rather talk about the match than the match officials.
