Post match: Liverpool v Man Utd (EPL 17/12/23 4.30pm)

I would have moved to Saudi Arabia.

Better football than the A-League.

There was width down the right all game bar the minutes after Szobo went off and Gomez came on. We tried something and realised that we had in effect removed one of our main attacking threats.
Gomez looked good when he came on but do you think he would have been allowed to bomb forward from the start of the game. Also, at this stage of the game Salah had been moved centrally, which allowed Gomez a lot more space.

Basically, we all had a bad day. The management made a few mistakes, the longer the game went on the more anxious the crowd got which in turn translated to the players, who then tried to force things.

Similar climate

My hero GoneKloppo

So?

So…the discussion was can nunez be as good as suarez and Mo…and the answers no.

Torres wasn’t as good as Suarez or Mo, but he wasn’t bad.

It wasn’t really…
I was the one that first brought Suarez up, and my point when bringing him up was not to say that Nunez was going to be as good as Suarez (or Mo for that matter, whom I never even brought up), just that I remembered Suarez being criticized in his first season for shooting too much and missing too much, but then he shook the world soon afterwards, and by that trying to make the point that rarely does anyone light up the world early on, or at this age.

Then lots of people thought it was a comparison to Suarez in general, which for the life of me I’ll never know why it was understood like that.

Then GoneKloppo came and filled in with the stats that show my original point in numbers.

So, anyway, even if a discussion initiated by you is “can Nunez be as good as Suarez or Mo”, I’ll bite: why would a player judged on whether he would be as good as club legends? What’s the point in that?
It’s like saying that if he’s not as good as club legends he won’t help the club win trophies, that he won’t be an asset to our team and that it’s better to not wait to see how good he may become, and sell to try and find the next Suarez or Mo, who btw should hit the ground scoring from the go.

Comparing Nunez to Torres is just as silly.

Now, comparing him to Origi or N’Gog…

Lets compare Alan Kennedy and Djimi Traore

Both won the European Cup…

… but only one made a goal line clearance in the final.

And one scored the winning goal, in a final. Two in fact, if you include the penalty shootout.

Nice to see Thompson hit back at the prick keane, Souness also and fair play to Lineker.

This is internet, people form arguments for fun!

No they dont

BALOTELLI …

The goals per minute ratio is a very misleading stat

The more telling one is shots at goal.

23/24
Shots Goals
Salah 53 11
Nunez 47 4
Diaz 31 3
Jota 22 4
Gakpo 21 2

22/23
Salah 125 19
Nunez 84 9
Bobby 39 11
Gakpo 39 7
Jota 35 7
Diaz 27 4

Its not a particularly great return on any of them.

Because of the new rule that games last until one team has had 20 shots?

Eh.
