Post match: Liverpool v Man Utd (EPL 19/4/22 8pm)

There was a lot of discussion last year about the governing footballing bodies wanting to reduce heading in the game. This table might make a good case for it with all these ex-players seemingly incapable of making informed decisions.

Rangnick isnā€™t really going to be in the Edwards role either, just a consultant whose views will likely be given short shrift.

With all the justified love for Thiagoā€™s performance and relief of Mo getting back in the goals, I feel like the quality of Maneā€™s performance is going under the radar. The first two goals were both a result of Mane dropping off into a pocket of space, getting the ball to feet and playing a clever ball around the corner. This is the new part of Kaneā€™s game that has been so lauded in the past 18 months and last night Mane was doing it just as well. We know he is a threat when facing their goal, either with the ball at his feet or in behind. Last night he was showing heā€™s got even more to him game than that.

As for Utd, I have so much to say about the issues they have, but I wont tarnish this thread with that. Those comments will be saved for the dumpster fire of their own thread :poop:

Heā€™s not that wrong. When you have all the money in the world things should not be complicated. Unfortunately for them, complicated and difficult are not the same thing.

It was an incredible pass for the second.

I saw an interview this morning on BBC where he said they were 6 years behind usā€¦his parting shot maybe

He hasnā€™t though. They already had their Edwards in place prior to Ole getting the sack. What Ralfā€™s role is beyond being an interim coach is very poorly defined and for him to be involved in any of it would require him undermining people who have already been hired to do those jobs.

to me, as a squad, we were worse, at a lower level.

which makes what this UTD team are producing even worse than our darkest days.

We were. Letā€™s face it, we were rank and far further down the league with Roy and players were downing tools all across the pitch. Iā€™m convinced Gerrard missed that pen against Blackburn on purpose and I, for one, was hoping heā€™d miss. Under Roy for a full season we would have been lucky to get to 40-45 points. There are lots of sticks to beat United with, that isnā€™t one of them.

I think the big difference is that as bad as we were, and we were actually worse in absolute terms, it really did feel like the majority of it was coming from a manager out of his depth and encouraging mediocrity. Sure, we had some players who had no place at the club, but as we saw once Kenny came in the core was competitive - Kennyā€™s PPG for the rest of that season was comparable to Utdā€™s.

Ralf may not have been the right guy to get a tune out of this group of players, but there is a rot that has taken hold of this club that has no such simple fix.

Mo Salah has had to clarify his post match interview but, in fairness, the comments work both ways.

Love this picture compilation by RedMen for this seasonā€™s against Mancs.

Weā€™ve just given United their biggest aggregate smashing ever. Weā€™re in with a chance of something completely unprecedented. Probably the best team weā€™ll support in our life times. Glory days.

ā€¦ and the absolute state of the chat on this thread

I noticed we had a few balls but only gifted them one. Felt like the first half

When he was sacked, we were 12th in the league I think, and in real danger of being dragged down into a relegation battle. We were absolutely abysmal at the time, horrible.

Then again, looking at Utdā€™s recent form: DDLWLDLWL

One of these two wins actually deserved a defeat (the one against Norwich), so their form during the last six weeks or so has been diabolical indeed.

Yep it was the pits and we played some terrible football but I donā€™t recall us literally walking around the pitch.

Iā€™d be embarrassed if I were watching them. The least you should expect of a team is to show fight and desire.

I think the worst display I can remember off hand was the 3-1 under Rodgers just before Klopp came in.

If I was a Man Utd fan Iā€™d be sick with the comment that they had nothing to play for, pundits and fans can mutter that as a defense but players shouldnā€™t especially as top 4 is still on.

Did we hear any Liverpool player say that last season? No, maybe thatā€™s your difference. Penandes tackle at the end was a joke.

It is pathetic that so many of their fans are parroting Nevilleā€™s nonsense about that mophead boy being their man of the match because he came on and started kicking people.
How low they have sunk.

Yeah, thought that was embarrassing. And worse, Carragher seemed to agree with him.

He came on, gave the ball away for our 4th goal, then committed a couple of bad fouls. Yeah, great, he showed ā€˜passionā€™. If theyā€™d started him and heā€™d play like that heā€™d have been off before half time.

I get that the rest of them werenā€™t bothered and didnā€™t want to be there but praising someone SOLELY for intentionally fouling is desperate, really bottom of the barrel stuff.
