Post match: Liverpool v Man Utd (EPL 19/4/22 8pm)

Im Getting sick of hearing this excuse, the guy has an influx of expensive tools with expensive maintenance, some of the biggest tools in the game, which are even more expensive to buy and maintain. Speed ratchets, bottle openers, slab demolition….

I haven’t a clue what you’re talking about

From the Daily Mail:

The move consisted of 25 passes, between 10 Liverpool players, including Alisson in goal. Only Virgil van Dijk was not involved. The final exchanges, though, were conducted at lighting speed. Joel Matip to Diaz, back to Matip, to Mane and threaded through beautifully to leave Salah one on one.

You’re Welcome!

Interim Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick said that closing the gap on Liverpool is “not that complicated” after another disappointing season at Old Trafford.
  :sob:

After a sublime first half.
After a Thiago masterclass.
After Salah scores two beauts.
After Allison plays more football than Bruno et al together…
After Liverpool go top of the league…

SKY have Keane and Neville talking about the demise of Utd.
Pathetic.

But hardly unexpected. Sky have always been anti-Liverpool and pro-anyone else, especially United.

It’s what they do.

It’s always like that. Bad news is more interesting than good news.

I’m comfortable enough with all that. We don’t need reminding how good we are , but it’s always amusing to have them hear just how shit they are.

Imagine Being Us. Indeed.

Alisson completed more passes (51) than Uniteds entire midfield (50)
Mane now has the same amount of Premier League goals as Ryan Giggs - but in 347 fewer games.

I wouldn’t write off the decision to bring Ralf in just yet, I hope you are right and it falls on its arse, but ultimately he has been recruited to play the Michael Edwards role, build a new team, and he very much knows how to do this.

He is only in the Managers role until the Summer then his real work begins, after working with the team first hand he will know where the gaps are and who needs replacing, it appears to be all of them :joy:

Even in the darkest Roy days were we ever this bad? I don’t think so…

Im trying to make heads or tails of these two stats on BBC:

Manchester United have conceded nine goals against Liverpool in the Premier League this season, the most they’ve ever shipped against a team in a single campaign. They’ve also conceded 76 Premier League goals in total against the Reds, more than they have vs any other opponent

Manchester United have lost 9-0 on aggregate in their two Premier League meetings with Liverpool this season. In their league history, they’ve only suffered a combined heavier defeat once – 0-11 vs Sunderland in 1892-93.

What’s the relevance of our 9-0 aggregate if Sunderland managed 11-0? Is it a ‘Premier League’ stat even though it doesn’t explicitly state that? I fucking hate the whole ‘PL’ angle with stats and titles. Next thing you know they will be measuring stats ‘since Barclays no longer became the title sponsor’ in 2016.

Stats should be measured against others in England’s premier division, which didn’t start in 1992.

Ahem…

Overall predicted ranking, using all 18 BBC pre season predictions

  1. Man City 2. Chelsea 3. Man Utd 4. Liverpool 5. Leicester
    72 pts 62 pts 33 pts 32 pts 1 pt

(using system of 4 pts for a 1st place, 3 pts for 2nd, 2 pts for 3rd and 1 pt for 4th)

To be fair it’s far more entertaining to watch Keane and Neville’s anger than it is to just hear another way of saying “Liverpool are good”. We know we are good, everyone knows we are good. It’s all been said.

The thought exercise of what should Man Utd do now, how do they get less terrible is much more interesting.

Different eras of course so tough to compare how Many and Giggs play that LW role but Giggs is one of the most overrated players in Premier League history. Steve McManaman was a far more talented winger.

They were called Newton Heath until 1902 so technically Manchester United never lost 11-0 to Sunderland, Newton Heath did.

I don’t thing we were ever that bad. We had a worse squad by far, and confidence was shot, but our attitude never got that bad.

Also for all the years United were brilliant and we were rubbish, we never rolled over like that twice in a season

Apart from when Gerrard missed the penalty on purpose at Blackburn so Woy could get sacked!

Last night’s applause for Ronaldo made me extra proud of club and supporters. I had tears in my eyes.

Despite the couple of unworthy comments on here pre-game, that shows what a great fan base we have… :+1:

Seriously folks, we have the best keeper in Ali, the best CB partnership in Virgil and Matip, 2 world class FBs, one of the best DM in Fab, a sublime AM in Thiago, and 5 top class, in-form forwards. Not to mention more than adequate back-ups in all positions. Wow. Who would have thought this possible before Jurgen arrived?
