Post match: Liverpool v Man Utd (EPL 5/1/25 4.30pm)

I don’t understand.

The first goal I can see the arguments, although the other question would be what Gravenberch is doing with the ball literally being passed right on front of him, but what does the second have to do with Alexander-Arnold?

Konaté goes wide, so Alexander-Arnold goes central, and the resulting goal has nothing to do with him, or have I missed something? I couldn’t see either of them in real-time so I can only rely on the clips I’ve seen.

Could have gone either way. Trent not the only poor performer, but he was awful. It’d be one thing to have this whole contract thing happening and him playing well but he’s been poor for a while.

Trent cost us the points. Let him fuck off to Madrid. I understand mistakes but it was like he didn’t bother playing. Just standing and kicking with eyes closed. Had he been in it we could have ripped them apart. The passage for second goal was allon him. Gave away the ball, then the throw which was lucky as their winger was open.

Trent too casual all game, let them in over and over again. Literally was their only way of attacking. I’ve stood up for his defensive performances more than most but that today was embarrasing.

For what its worth I think this was one of “those” games. Everytime some Utd player would get a half toe on it or hook it blindly away it would fall to one of their players in acres of space.

Really disappointed by our wide play and also that their midfield won so many second balls. Probably shouldn’t have brought Jota on after getting the equalizer.

Feel like we didn’t handle the weather well today.

Point is ok but a disappointment.

Yes I have slated Trent, but at the end he had both Dalot and Garnacho to deal with as Mo doesn’t help defensively at all, somewhat understandable with what Mo offers going forward, but at 2 - 1, keep our shape and control the game.

By being really poor at the back, and having one player at right back who had a nightmare from start to finish. How Slot didn’t take him off earlier I’ll never understand.

Anyway, a draw isn’t the end of the world. It’s like for the derby: in such a game, form flies out of the window. Arsenal drew their game, so we had a joker and used it for what was always to be a tough game for us.

Tough game that

Trent wasn’t his best today, he should have been more focused. Maybe he has other things on his mind.

Fair result. Credit to united for not parking the bus. We missed Gomez tonight, he could of cover for Trent or Robo.

@PeachesEnRegalia’s bald swede?

What of it?

Had Maguire slotted it home I would have banged my head. Fucking disgrace from Trent. We missed Szob. Jones was poor

And given yourself concussion for something that should be ruled offside?

Zirksee was offside. I think.

I expected a tough game, but after going 2-1 up it’s really frustrating to have to settle for a draw. Felt a little bit like last year when we only got a draw.

I expect some kind of reaction when we play Forrest, neither Slot nor the players can be happy about this performance.

I thought Van dijk, Ryan, Gapko and Macca were good

Gomez’s value becomes apparent even with a missed match. Perhaps Slot couldn’t get Bradley in sooner for fitness reasons.

Would have rather had this game postponed now. Gutted

All our fans on forums and social media gonna pile on Trent after that. Yes, he was shocking but let’s remember all the joy he’s brought us.

That said, I’m more at peace than ever with having Conor as our first choice RB

Obviously the weather has a big levelling impact on the game, and shouldn’t be discounted. But there are few lads who need a roasting after that.

Trent was absolutely piss poor. If you are going to make the narrative leading up the game about you, you can’t then lash in that performance. Jones was also poor today, and got bossed in midfield.

Really should have gone on to win the game at 2-1, but of course we had that fucking braindead lump up front by that point. That yellow card is absolutely ridiculous from him and says everything about where his head is at. If we can get a decent striker in, I’d ship him off in January.

I think it was a mistake to throw Konate in for this. He looked rusty, and visibly tired towards the end.

Arsenal’s point means that not too much damage is done. But we should have won that game. Despite showing some spirit, they are not a good team.

We need a midfielder, jones cannot be the only option when one of the three is out
