Post match: Liverpool v Man Utd (EPL 5/1/25 4.30pm)

We had one week’s break, and suddenly, we lacked rhythm. Poor team performance on the whole.
Regarding TAA, he should seriously decide what he wants. That was atrocious today.

Because we are 2 - 1 up and Trent isn’t in position, we aren’t playing well and Trent was the worst so suck it up stay in position and be solid.

Losing to them would have been beyond awful, so I will move on pretty quickly…

However…they’re fucking gash and I am very disappoint right now.

Only positive from this game is that Konate and Bradley are back.

He didn’t do that though did he?

A sub par first half, though we created a couple of good chances. Man Utd put up a fight.
Second half, Martinez goal was a wake up call. Then we had a good spell, getting back in the lead, through Cody and a Salah pen.

Trent had a mare (played like he read TAN’s forums and bought the hype). Out of position, and jogging back, allowing Dalot to get into postion to make plenty of crosses. As I said in the in match thread, all players can have off games. so when we turned the game around, it was the perfect time to have subbed Trent.

THe weather levelled up the game. Passes were overhit etc. Curtis had the free role further up, but was poor as well.

A couple of cup games now, followed by a top of the table clash against Forest. Since beating City, we’ve won 3 and drawn 3 in the league. 12 points out of 18.

One of our worst games all season, to come out on the other side with a point is not the worst thing.

Very disappointing performance on a lot of levels.

I hope that the weather affected us more than them, because that wasn’t a pretty sight. We were shocking defensively for most of the match, especially from the right. I can’t believe that Slot didn’t sub TAA sooner. He is as much to blame as the players on the pitch who by and large failed to deliver.

Lucky to get a point after that.

Yeah so what I’m asking is, from what I saw (the clip started from Konaté tracking the runner down the left), it was the usual thing we normally see from the right side.

Alexander-Arnold is further up the pitch, so Konaté comes wide to cover, and usually Alexander-Arnold goes central, which he does. The question is, am I missing something before that, because whatever he does in that clip seems normal to me.

On Trent, it’s 2-1, there are twenty minutes left so how about playing right back for a bit.

‘I want to be remembered as the best ever right back’. Really Trent? Start playing like one then

They won’t cover it, or even look at it, now but I’m pretty sure Zirkzee was offside. That chance was exactly what I was talking about though - random hoofed clearance by a backpedalling defender goes 50 yards on the ground somehow missing 4 Liverpool players and lands perfectly for a Utd pkayer in oceans of space. They had that luck all game.

Bradley was the positive for me. Had he beaten Onanha it would have been the winner and what a moment it would have been for the lad. So unlucky.

I thought taking Diaz off for him was a strange sub. Diaz wasn’t the worst and at least offers a chance of a goal or nicking the ball from defender in the press.

Re Bradley’s late sub, can only assume the staff felt he was only ready for 15 mins. He was fucking great though eh?

Disappointed, but could have been worse. Arsenal dropping points luckily gave us more of a buffer.

Konate goes wide to cover for trent. If trent had been covering then konate would have been in the middle to intercept cross which eluded trent and robbo

Zirkzee was offside.

Not sure why people are asking Trent to ‘fck off to Madrid’ after that. It was a poor performance but that seems so knee jerk.

Not happy as we dropped points against one of the worse teams that has played at Anfield. We were carving them open with ease and didn’t capitalize on that.

You can’t win all the games though so draw seems better atleast after that performance. I’ll take it if this is a lesson learnt and we follow up being the ruthless we have been.

Oh and this is how united would have felt when we were at our worst a decade or so ago. Turning up against only the likes of them.

Far from our best today, never controlled the game, our two scousers should be really prominent today but one was anonymous and the other dreadful and should have been subbed off at half time. MacAllister was man of the match but today we dropped two points.
