Yes, ETHs public response has been pretty measured. But then he (someone close to him) leaks a piece to the mirror to say ā€˜Look at what a hard no-nonsense bad ass Eric is. He isnā€™t taking any shit from these Pricksā€™.

To be clear, Iā€™m not criticising any reaction from Ten Hag. Iā€™m criticising his using the media through a second party to try and distance himself from the performance of his players. Thatā€™s snide, and the players wonā€™t like it.

I might be wrong, but I havenā€™t seen any stories leaked to the press to essentially excuse himself of any fault and push the blame onto his players?

He has got Steve McClaren working with him, he loved the camerasā€¦ Wonder if heā€™s now added a manc twang to his dutch twinge

The secondary effect of those stories is to close down the criticism of any particular players, while directing the focus on Ten Hag. So the current line ā€˜the players are having it rough behind closed doors, ERH is really giving it to themā€™ has the effect of protecting them from the anger of their fan base.

Phone rings at the Mirror.

Hello? Shportsh deshk? Iā€™m an inshider at Man Utd, and wondered if you would be intereshted in hearing how Eric is punishing the playersh after the Anfield losh?

Oh, Hi Steve. Are you well?

I have not heard McLaren since just after his Twente glory days. Does he still have a twinge of the faux Dutch?

Having been in this position personally, as one of the players who felt badly let down by the lack of professionalism of my more high profile team mates, I disagree entirely. This is one of those moves that will further clarify which players he inherited deserve to be along for the ride, and the players who deserve it will be paying as much attention as EtH will be at the reaction from their team mates.

It seems your issue is more with him not owning his own tactical mistakes. I get that and could debate that, but that doesnt mean that at a time when fans, led by ex players, are baying for blood it is wrong to hold the players as a collective to account and making sure that the public knows it.

Maybe there are brown nose mind games being played by Savage Snr to ensure his son gets a recall to OT eh :0)

Leaking news about the team is a bottle job. Klopp doesnā€™t do it. Klopp has slammed team performances in public and included himself in the criticism. The rest is behind closed doors and he has said that. A strong person doesnā€™t need to tell everyone he is strong, he just is.
