If Arsenal win all their games (and that’s a BIG if), we would need to drop to 1.55 PPG for them to overtake us.
So the only way we lose this league now is if our form falls completely off a cliff AND Arsenal win all their games. Without the refs’ intervention, that ain’t happening.

True but I will take the actuarial analysis out and simplify by saying we just need to beat Arsenal at Anfield.
I, like many other posters on TAN, are tonight very cheesed off, sick and sad…at 2:0 if felt sick…ok we redeemed ourselves with one…but today we didn’t seem to flow…Mo no luck on his wing…Diaz no luck on his…i wondered if they could swap fo 10 mins…Virgil or Ibu should’ve faced out Burn…but how the f**k is hitting the ball with your hand…in the penalty area…‘trying to keep your balance’…uttershite…how is a deliberate pull down in the penalty area…‘a gentle coming together’…again utter shite…and I had to look and watch those great big fat pie face filling dickweeds…who acted as if they had won every cup going…it still hurts…and will till we get our next win…so now I’m going to go and eat some chocolate…to ease the pain…oh and another caveat to today…the bloody Mancs won 3:0…bugger dam
This is where Arnie needs to earn his stripes. Step up and get this team over the line. Very tough week last week. Extra time. Penalties the a cup. Very tough week.
Just want to offer my opinion on the goalkeeper for the cup final. Alisson is the number one, clearly, and if you pick your best then he gets the nod.
Kelleher is the number two. Good goalie with his plus points, but Alisson is better. The only reason Kelleher is picked ahead of a fit Alisson is down to an agreement that was made.
We don’t know the nature of the agreement as it is a private thing, but the way it appears to have played out is Kelleher was told he will get the League Cup, and we honored that commitment.
Whether or not we should be making that commitment is up for debate, but if we did make the commitment, I’m glad we kept it. Sticking to your agreements is a crucial part of building a good culture. If the agreement isn’t optimal, moving forward we should stop making that kind of commitment.

“wow… you are serious…A run of good luck after 29 games, topping the PL, topping the CL group stages and making a final…”
I meant managerial good luck .Not that LFC have been lucky.
We all feared the worst when Klopp left and we appointed Arne Who? and …
He signed no one apart from Chiesa and wont play him.
Inherited a good team. Made some subtle changes to tactics. All his subs turn to gold. Run away with league ( Man City coveniently collapse. Recently we have not won the league with better points total that we are going to have this season.)
He has improved the team as if by magic.
He doesnt say much at press conference but it all seems sensible and unremarkable.
We all believe he is a genius.Including me.
But today it just crossed my mind that maybe we have jumped to conclusions too quickly and “the king is in the altogether”.
No one hopes more than me that my flicker of doubt is bollox and he is the genius we have come to believe in. Fingers crossed.
The Barcodes had not won a cup since before the first Moon landing. I had never heard of the Inter Cities Fair Cup…and who knows if Newcastle had a player whose grandad recalled that win.
By contrast, since they last won silverware, LFC has won 72 trophies.
Good on them. Their supporters can revel tonight on that elusive trophy not seen since Abbey Road was on the charts. We can wait a few weeks and revel on #73.
Yes I agree with how the opposition plays, but it how we are in possession, earlier in the season he was getting on the ball, beating the press or laying the ball of intelligently, whereas against the Barcodes our players were going too long and playing into their hands. That is where a Rodri type of player is worth his weight in gold as he dictates how his teams play.
I do agree that Grav has the tools to do it but he does need more experience.
It was the forerunner to the old UEFA cup, now Europa league.
In the post war period friendlies would often be organized between clubs in cities holding trade fairs and after seeing an opportunity FIFA and UEFA worked together to turn that into a formal invitational competition.
It’s a pretty interesting tournament and worth reading up on to get a sense of how the perspective on the value of continental competitions evolved from the 40s through to the 70s or so
For me its more about the mindset and the patience to play through such teams and tactics.
Clearly the Klopp model remains a Plan B which we’re too happy to return to if things are not going well.
But I suspect we’ll grow from this…IMO our margin for growth is way beyond any of our rivals, especially with the prospects of smart recruitment in the summer.
That is my view too, we just lack the full belief in how Arne wants us to play and then struggle when we move away from the script, more training and coaching should improve this, which is hard when you have no time in between games.
Reckon the big reason here was the lads are knackered, especially after a couple of hard games against PSG.We have a few older players who are getting a lot of minutes and that must take its toll on them as we get to the business end of the season.
We have only the league left now, the one that counts, but there are some difficult games in there, though, none really a doddle…
The bean counters need to realise we can got through a hard season without backup.
A truly miserable experience. Standing there wanting the ref to blow the final whistle after a fucking hour to save us further embarrassment.
Outplayed, out-fought, out-fucking-everything. There have been few games I remember following this great club where there has been so little to get excited about, a totally abject performance.
All topped off by having to endure fucking Geordie scrotes (who hadn’t even been inside the ground) shouting shite at us as we walked back to the car. Classless fucking wankers, I’ve been fortunate to see us win countless cup finals and have never once felt the need to abuse opposition fans in the street after the game.
Just win the fucking league, please.
