- We did not play well until stoppage time, which was way too late.
- Newcastle wanted it more for most of the game and worked their socks off in defence.
- The ref gave them everything and us nothing.
- Ali should have started - I am certain he would have saved the first goal.
- We really need to see more of Harvey and Fede after the international break.
- We will just have to make do with winning the league this season.
End of winter fatigue kicked in at the worst time possible.
Eddie Howe had a game plan and executed it well. Burns staying wide to avoid engaging with Konate/Virgil. Felt Quansah should have been tasked on him.
Slot has been playing the same starting line up most games, and we have discussed many times on here that it is catching up with us. Even when Curtis started a few games in a row, it was up front, and not for one of Grav, Alexis or Dom. Need to trust squad players like Elliot more.
Starting Endo here would’ve been good. Added presence at the back for the wide long balls which caused problems, and would’ve allowed one of the regular midfielders to come on later. The ref also kept his cards in his pocket, so Endo would’ve been in his element. We needed to deal better with the second balls.
Nice consolation goal from Chiesa, but not enough. So it’s the Prem to win now. A good lead, so need the rotation to keep things fresh. Last season, Klopp rotated but the injuries took it’s toll for April to peter out.
Our boys just did not got going. Really flat. Lack of intensity. Front three all ineffective. Created nothing….
No complaints. The lads got what they deserved. A distant second best.
Abysmal performance.
We quickly move on!

Not our best week. However, if we’re gonna lose I don’t mind it being the Geordies. They deserved it.
they will be well rested up and ready… legs are a bit gone, im afraid
Didn’t deserve a thing and didn’t get a thing. Turning up in a cup final after 85mins is and will never be acceptable. Losing to the bottom side in the championship is not acceptable and not being able to compete over in Paris was not acceptable. There isn’t a limit to how many times that can be emphasized, no matter how many soft feathers that ruffles.
Let’s get over the line in the league, a lot of changes needed in the summer.
Tired end to the season. Regroup over the next 2 weeks and get over the line in the League. Will still be a fine first season for Arne.
Slot got it wrong with selection and the subs. Players looked knackered. Has to take most of the blame. That’s fine. League is all that matters !!!
its ok… we will be back… heads up lads!!!
really feel for our boys…damn!!
It’s obvious that the team was badly in need of rotation. Tired legs, the massive let down of the PSG loss, etc. But I also understand that it’s a cup final and it’s hard to rotate your best available XI.
I would have preferred Chiesa and Elliott to be put on much sooner, if only because of their energy and aggression.
It’s too bad that this was likely Kelleher’s last appearance for us. He’s been immense as a backup keeper and he deserved a better send off.
Ah well…
Disappointing week.

However the first goal shows why he perhaps isn’t at the level we need.
Time to regroup and then pedal to the metal for the EPL Championship.
Gutted by that. Never got going.
Very similar to Paris a couple of weeks ago, the gaps between our lines were absolutely huge. Defensive no where near midfield, midfield nowhere near attack. So not only were we isolated and struggling to progress the ball but also we couldn’t compete for second balls cos we’re all too far away.
Another similarity is Jota unfortunately offering very little.
Few of these lads lack the sort of game intelligence that we had in abundance in the last league winning campaign. Elliot and Quansah looping long balls to no one instead of turning the screw and keeping the pressure on.
Loads of silly fouls from the likes of Dom and Cody to let them get possession, waste time and get a breather.
Ah well.
