Start of the second half, we finally took the game to PSG. Shame we couldn’t get a goal in that period. The pen was soft. VAR intervened though. Maybe the ref descriptioon was different to waht happned. Or maybe they decided to re-referee it.
In any case, the Dembele opening goal was dissapointing, considering we had players back in postion, and behind the ball.
This game was lost in the first leg though. Slot changed too much in that game.

A brave display on an awful night. No complaints about effort from all of the lads. A very good side and I didn’t think it was a penalty. After I’ve given him a lot of stick this season I must say that I thought Ibo was excellent tonight and gave him my MOM. Carry on like that and we might qualify for CL next year.

First of all well played PSG you won that the way we would have two years ago. Great team great manager.
Never thought I would say it but we are feared by no teams now, even at Anfield. Quality just isn’t there or we just need a manager that can pull our lot together and make a team out of them.
Hope it’s soon

Now focus for the Merseyside Derby.

Gomez going off was the change as then Szob had to move form midfield and whilst Joe was on their left side didn’t have a sniff
We were too sloppy first half, however much better second half. Had we had scored one when we were on top anything might have happened, but we just couldn’t convert, which has been an on-going problem. Inevitable that PSG were going to find space as we pushed on.
Hugo getting what looks a serious injury is so typical of our season.
Rio needs to play more before the season is over.
Only 6 more games to endure of this season, but they’re very important games and i hope we show something positive and get that CL spot, ideally before the final match weekend.

I thought the pen was incredibly soft and I don’t think there was enough in it for a cast iron pen, but I don’t think vAR should be overruling it. It wasn’t a clear and obvious error.

How good was Ibou today and how poor was Virg, all I saw him doing was arms up and pointing and then launching the ball to nobody.
There was contact and then he carried on with his body straight through Macca
Nothing we could’ve done in either leg to have gone through nevermind holding out for a chance, they’re better man for man all over the pitch and have a proper manager behind them.
This tie could be played 100 times over and we’d be knocked out 100 times.
Abandon all hope.

Didn’t expect anything from this match, and they didn’t deliver.
First half was absolutely shite. Late to 2nd ball, could not pass to each other, and no communications between players (keep running into each other). Suddenly the players remembered how to play football for 20 minutes in the second half with good quick progressive passes, and actually stringed a few passes together. Unfortunately there was no end product.
Only a few more matches to go to see the back of this fucking awful season with unimaginable tragedy.

Stop blaming the referee!!!

Definitely he needs to tune his game and decision making and that comes with game time.

You said he was fucking annoying, i thought he actually had a decent game, and on two occasions told me to fuck off…anyone says that to you and their banned …but its ok for you to be hostile…

Reminded me of when Rafa’s Valencia gave Houllier’s Reds a footballing lesson at Anfield.

Yeah, that’s fair enough. If the ref thinks the contact is enough for a pen, then it should stand. VAR should not be getting involved unless it thinks the referee has seen something he hasn’t.

I wasn’t expecting us to win, so I can’t say that they let me down. I’m more worried now about how many injuries we are carrying.
I actually thought we looked reasonable at the beginning of the second half. It’s a pity that it didn’t come to anything.

Exactly there was contact so VAR shouldn’t have intervened and then the ref should have had the bottle to stand up with his onfield decision, it seems the bar with UEFA is lower than in the PL

Much better overall effort, compared to the first leg. Simply up against a superior side in PSG.
I’d like to know how many games and minutes we’ve had with all our major summer signings of Isak, Wirtz, Ekitike, Kerkez, and Frimpong on the pitch at the same time. It certainly hasn’t been many.
Feel badly for Hugo, if indeed that was an achilles rupture he could be out a year.
Hope Isak can round into form quickly, and that Rio gets plenty of minutes in the run in, we’ll need both to secure top 5 PL and CL for next season.

This game sums us up this season: poor game preparation and approach, nice changes and a better second half but crap end product, silly goal conceded . But I think we played better today than in most games this season.
