Fuck it.

We’re still the best club in the world.

We have to finish top 4 though because next season is the season of the fans - imagine the atmosphere in Anfield next season for every game… to miss out on Big European nights would be fucking shit.

@ISMF starts the threads for the PL games.

We still haven’t replaced Coutinho

The version of Phil that people think we still miss was one that was never really here anyway. Under Klopp all but a trivial amount of his football, the time in which his form earned him a move to Barca and established him in the Brazil side, was as part of a forward line that had a proper midfield behind him. The fact that many people thought he could do a job a midfield is not matched by the number of times he actually did that job.

He was class for us in his final 6-12 months here.

Best thing for us that we moved him on… I think in the grand scheme of things this will be a major regret of his.

Our midfield hasn’t always been the direct contributor towards goals and it works well when our full backs and front three contribute attacking wise leaving our midfield to do the dirty work. I think we always had the plan to evolve our midfield and not always be reliant on work horses itself. Keita, Ox, Thiago, Fabinho were signings in the right direction (moving from Hendo-Gini-Milly) and those 4 with Hendo in the mix are a class variety of midfield to choose from. It’s unfortunate things didn’t work out as planned, but it isn’t for not trying.

Also I don’t rate Coutinho’s goal scoring prowess that big. His continuous shooting at sight in the latter days was actually annoying and he didn’t had that good conversion rate. He was good for Rodgers’ set up constantly looking for a forward pass, but we actually improved a lot under Klopp after he left. Great midfielders know how to pace the game, when to slow it down and when to up the tempo - Coutinho in my opinion isn’t the player to do that.

The tie was lost in the first leg. We were crap. Showed them too much respect. Even so they needed a massive helping hand from the ref when Sadio was clear through and got shoved over by Vásquez then they go up the other end and score. I was livid. That done me for this season.

For those who say we shouldn’t rely on the ref, well I can’t be bothered replying to you.

2nd leg, our finishing killed us. It was a good performance but Mo’s miss in the first 2 mins was unforgivable. Madrid’s defending was crap (we had about 5 or 6 gilt edged chances) but fortunately for them so was our finishing.

Next season needs evolution not revolution but we do need to freshen up a few things.

I also think Klopp although has had a really difficult season hasn’t helped himself with some strange decisions. I think he’d be the first to admit that.

Agreed on all this. And with that in mind, I still do wonder at times how The Boss was planning to use Fekir had that transfer not been scuppered.
