Or a final.

That is the first picture that came in my head that Gerrard crunching tackle we went berserk and a legend was born.

Oh for sure. They will get whatā€™s coming to them.

Iā€™m saying that there is no ā€œhoodooā€ any more. We know how to beat them and we will do so again. And again.

Againā€¦itā€™s dependent on the manager/style. With Rafa we beat them 0-1 away and 4-0 at home. Prompted them to make wholesale changes to the team.

We are on that sort of a cycle again with Slot.

That is extremely rude and disrepectful towards Liverpool U/18ā€™s

Shame on you!

Thatā€™s just not true. We dominated the Paris final in a similar fashion. The difference is that we missed chance after chance and got done by a sucker punch. They almost produced one again last night, but Kelleher stepped up.

Kloppā€™s teams werenā€™t only full throttle, all or nothing. The best, the refined editions that went on to win the title, the CL and almost a quadruple had far more in common to what we are seeing now with Slot. They wouldnā€™t have been successful otherwise.

We not only missed our chances, but we were also sloppy in all the games. unnecessary vulnerabilities at the back cost us the games.

I think itā€™s a similar story for the Champions League in 2019-20. People keep blaming Adrian, but the truth is, we just couldnā€™t finish our chancesā€¦

Courtois was a huge part of us not finishing our chances in previous games. He simply kept everything out, making a string of world class saves. Even last night, I thought we were good for four goals but had to settle for two. He is a massive presence who can keep them in it when their attack isnā€™t quite firing.

Heā€™s a great keeper. Almost as good as Alisson.

It is the day after and Iā€™m still buzzing. Some great write-ups and comments in this thread too. Nice work everyone.

What was most pleasing for me is that we saw the best of two types of football, wrapped up in one performance. The intensity, tackling, pressingā€¦ it was all there. But then we also had great calmness, as we passed it around as needed. This gave us a breather, and if extrapolated over a whole season, it will hopefully yield fewer injuries and a bit more freshness in the legs when the season becomes a slog.

Speaking of injuries, Iā€™d like to kick Endrick in the bollocks. Donā€™t like the fella. He has been earmarked as a superstar since his mid teen years. Real Madrid paid a fortune for him and left him in South America to continue to develop. When he came to Real Madrid he had filled out a bit, and he also looked - to me at least, as though he was concentrating way too much on his hair, his appearance, and the trappings of stardom.

This comment on Endrick is from afar, so it could easily be unfair, but Iā€™m saying what it looks like to me. It is a Billy big bollocks who expected to trample all before him, and I donā€™t like to see that in youngsters. To be fair, Bellingham has a bit of it too. Shouting the odds. Speaking a bit too much for one so young, etc.

Anyway, why I want to kick Endrick in the bollocks is because he was flinging himself around. It is dangerous. He will accelerate into tight spaces, as good attackers do, but then if he is challenged, or blocked, he will throw himself through the air, without caring where his stocky fat arse is going to land.

Last night he landed on Konate after doing such a move. The game was gone and it was in the closing moments, but he did something dangerous - to my mind throwing yourself around like that is just as dangerous as going in studs up with force.

The refs arenā€™t quite onto it in terms of seeing it and punishing it as they should. It all has an air of plausible deniability for the attacker, but I know what I see, and a few of them, including Endrick last night, throw themselves in there and it is very dangerous.

I very much thought he threw himself into the back of Konates legs - possibly injuring him - right at the end and well after the ball was gone and he had no chance to get it.

And as you rightly point out - it wasnā€™t the first time in the game he did something dangerous or dirty like that.

I was at the game last night. Ive been lucky over the years being at some awesome European nights that had electic atmospheres. Last nights took a similar start for a big game, songs, flags etc, but during the game, wow. Both the Bradley tackle and the Kelleher save reactions from the crowds were unreal. Team played excellent, crowd was excellent, the only thing that wasnt excellent were Madrid.

Epic night, one i wont be forgetting anytime soon.

Gravenberch: ā€œWe dominated Real Madrid, especially in the second half. We barely gave any chances away. Kelleher saved the penalty and after that it became 1 big rondo on the pitch, if I can say thatā€¦ā€ (Via Ziggo).
