Post match: Liverpool v Spurs (EPL 15/3/26 4.40pm)

He needs to get his old killer instinct back

Just listening to David Lynch talking re the Jota issue, Diogo would be turning in his grave with the lack of effort and fight from our players, he always gave all and fought for every ball.

Very disappointing.
Our structure is horrendous. Even so we should/could have won.

You could have seen their goal coming 20 minutes before they scored. You could have seen Mac running out gas in midfield. We have Konate to play centre back and move Gomez on the right but instead we play our best midfielder at the back.
Slot’s taking us one step forward and two steps back.

You missed out a tiring Robbo, he shoud have also been replaced before that poor effort of a header, because we could see it was becoming a ā€˜basketball’ game.

The starting 11 slot picked stunk of complacency, as if he could stick any old 11 on the pitch and win the game.
All season the fans have called for him to try something different but he’s stubbornly kept to the same under-performing players week in week out.
That game today was as close to a fucking gimme as you can get in this league. Spurs in complete disarray, barely able to name a team and other results going our way.
So let’s play our best, most energetic midfielder at RB again despite having 3 other lads available who could play there.
And let’s have a front 3 of a raw kid, a right-back and a bloke who has no fucking idea how to play CF. And let’s keep our top scorer on the bench.
An absolute nonsense of a line-up.

Dunno I’m in Berlin and I took the time to wander around Nikolai Kirche, that was far more interesting than watching us again.

Now we are getting to the point, they probably don’t even watch the game, just get on the piss!

At least, it is better than snatching a defeat from the jaws of victory lol..

Nail on the head, too easy to blame the players when the fault is deeper, namely with Slot.

Late to the wake today and it has all been said..so I’ll content myself with echoing..Slot out!
Love to know what, if anything is going on in the boardroom, very little of consequence it seems.

I got as far as half time but couldn’t stay awake any longer. I probably should have slept through the whole thing.

I think the only way FSG sack Slot before the end of the season is if we get knocked out by Galatasaray. Getting knocked out in the quarters would probably be seen as acceptable by FSG, but going out now to a team that we should not lose to would not be acceptable.

So, yes I know this is verging on sacriligious, but I am kind of hoping that we get knocked out. Being realistic I can’t see us winning the thing anyway.

The message would have been clearer if there were tens of thousands of ā€œSlot outā€ posters out there.

I can imagine the fume that Anfield will have if Gala forces us to a scoreless draw or a high-scoring draw at Anfield with our supposed ā€œAā€ team where there is zero away fans.

We’ve gone from mentality monsters to mentality mice.

Have watched almost every single Liverpool game for 20+ years, and I’ve seen worse teams, but none so utterly frustrating.

Shattering combination of arrogance, complacency, and naivety, from Hughes making far too many changes to a winning squad, to stuck in the mud management, to players who outside of #8 simply have not performed to standard.

I may need to take a sabbatical from watching until next season.

I watch a lot of RedmenTV Youtube videos and they are generally good and also measured in their approach and have some good insights.

Kloop left a strong squad from top to bottom that only needed an additional CDM.

Hughes and Slot decided to basically dismantle and make lots of fundamental changes to a title winning squad, starting by selling off match-ready young players which ended up hurting squad depth. Then, they bought Wirtz and Isak of all people instead of a Diaz replacement when we play in a 4-3-3 formation relying primarily on flank attacks, even when we already bought Ekitike, while Fabinho was still not replaced. Could have kept Nunez as back up, bought a proper winger and a cheap striker. If we had to buy someone from Newcastle, then Gordon would have made more sense since we needed a player of his profile - a fast winger who can play both wings while also deputizing CF position, especially after buying Ekitike. Semenyo would have also been a better deal than Isak as well.

Perhaps they never expected Salah to drop so fast, but that’s still negligence because Salah was already 33 by the end of the last season - you should always prepare for any kinds of form drop for any over-30 player. Remember that in 2018-2020, we had 0 starters over 30 years old - all of them were U30 (I would not count Milner as a starter).
