I was happy to inform a United supporting person I know at the gym this morning that we achieved the title win with a fully operational canteen.

Looking back on it, I was in a minority who would’ve taken the title on Wednesday without hesitation. A day later, I say fuck that – this was a thousand times better. I watch every game from 3,000 miles away and am lucky to have been twice, but I know that the regular matchgoing fans live and breathe the club daily in ways that we can’t. To see what it meant to the folks in the ground made me emotional more than anything.

They came on after half-time, according to the Grauniad. I remember them being mentioned on the commentary, having unmuted it so I could hear Anfield.
