Thought it was another great effort as we faced a very rested, well organized Serie A side.
I don’t buy the Origi argument, and can’t even dare to compare him to Jota, which is why he’s leaving.
I thought Klopp would have tried something different upfront, such as invert Mo with Luis or at least play Mo in the middle with Mane on the right…just to give their defenders something different to deal with.
Arguments and feelings of sorrow and regret ought to not carry as much weight as feelings of pride and appreciation for the season our leader and the guys are giving us. Especially as we fight against a wealthy Kingdom’s army of mercenaries who find a way to sleep at night.
Gutted to drop 2 points to a team of spoilers. Was sorry to see Hendo go off, thought he was our best player up to that point. Also would have liked to see Divock get a run out, his physical presence might have been just what we needed. Overall not a bad performance. looks like we will have to settle for 3 cups now
If you finish a season with 85+ points, then you’re just nit picking at where it was lost. Football is not the sport for you if you want perfection in every minute of every game.
Exactly. The level this team has been at for the past four seasons - even last season given the injury crisis and other mitigating factors - should make everyone fucking ecstatic. Of course it would be nice to have a lot more trophies to show for it, but when the club you support is winning far more often than not, is that not enough to make you happy?
We’re up against a financial juggernaut who happily cheat their way to the top. We’re the only ones who have come within a cunt hair of topping them in the last four years, and that right there says something.
Winning three cups - one of which is the European Cup - in the same season is absolutely massive. Enjoy it.
I dont understand the Mo central idea, especially against packed defences as he isnt a poacher type player and is the poorest of our forward players in attacking crosses. For me we needed Bobby or even Divock to try to get in on the crosses. However, I thought that in the final 10/15 minutes we played into their hands by sending in cross after cross, when we needed to try and penetrate with pass and move footy.
I hope Jurgen now prioritizes our actual 2 cup finals to prepare our players and ensure they are physically and mentally peaked for them. 3 trophies especially old big ears, and 2nd place in PL still make an excellent season for us.
… except that he was our only player creating danger before being replaced. It was a strange replacement considering what was happening on the pitch. I guess Klopp had his reasons but I don’t know them.
Disappointed with the result because we played well.
But we need to find our ruthlessness in finishing…
Anyway, the more I digest this outcome, the more I think that it will only matter if City draw a single game and we win our remaining ones. Otherwise, if they win all their remaining 3 it won’t matter.
But if they lose 1 and we win all three we’ll have to better their GD, which is normal, so if we don’t it could matter there as well.
And in terms of pressure of course it’s maybe different…
Somehow I still believe, but it looks much more of a mountain to climb than before.
In any case we just have to win our remaining games with the best GD possible, and see where it gets us…
Of the four trophies we were contesting, this was the most unlikely (out of our hands since the City game) to begin with…and we’re still in it somehow, even if it starts getting less likely…
Just made a post full of obvious stuff, to get over the result. Didn’t really work. I guess a nice win tomorrow would do.
Aye, it looked like a tired performance. We ran our hearts out without the ball, but that’s the easy bit. It’s the decision making that goes first when you’re tired. Spurs kept us relatively quiet in terms of chances, but on reflection that is as much because we didn’t recognize the openings we did create as much as because Spurs kept us from creating them. I’m thinking specifically of the Ben Davis block on Mo where he failed to see an open Diaz 6 yards out for what would have been a near enough open goal, and the late Thiago pass that caught Trent on his heels for what would have been a free header from 6 yards. Both looked like tired plays as much as they looked like bad ones.
The fact these two examples above came from two of our most important players and were representative of their performances today tells the story unfortunately.
