Post match: Liverpool v Villa (EPL 11/12/21 3pm)

What the hell was going on with him today? Fortunately he was never properly tested, because the way he was playing he would have found a way to fuck it up. I don’t know if he hates playing in weather like that or what it was, but he was certainly making me nervous.

Considering we got the 3 points in the end, the game pissed me off for many reasons.

He seems to have the ability to now and then resemble a nervous wreck.

I don’t want that anywhere near my hall of shame post, go shove it somewhere else. The last thing I need is guilt by association.

I struggled to think of the MOTM, so gave it to Robbo, which in turn drew him level with Matip. You welcome.

A real shit game, ultra shit ref performance. We need to start that 5-0 trend again, I enjoy those, nice and relaxing, good on the heart.

Too shameful for the Hall of Shame?

That’s some shameful shit!

Calm down there, sir. You are taking out your emotions on the wrong guy, I didn’t write the post. I was merely adding a different perspective.

These kind of ‘shitty games’, when you get through them with a narrow victory, they strengthen the belief that we could win the League.
Almost more than the big wins in a weird way and that’s 2 in a row.

We made hard work of it but any other result would have been a travesty. There was a chasm in quality between the two sides but it just wasn’t running for us in front of goal. Mo wasn’t quite on it and Ox did his best in a position he’s obviously not cut out for. Villa weren’t even that well set up. We had loads of room down the left hand side. Both Robbo and Sadio played OK and linked up well. Had we scored early we would have twatted them.

The best thing I can say about Stuart Attwell’s performance is that it created a great atmosphere. I don’t usually moan about refs but he was absolutely pathetic. At least he finally cracked under the pressure. This was exactly the sort of game that we wouldn’t have won last season in front of no fans.

I wish Stevie well and it’s early days for him but Villa were shite. Zero ambition, time wasting from the first minute, persistent fouling and play-acting. Why is it that every other manager wants to put on a Simeone tribute act at Anfield these days? Sick of seeing these shithouse tactics and refs doing fuck all about it.

Exactly as it should be.

Total pro.

He was no Steve Bruce, which is a shame for us but I do have a lot more respect for his management in that.

3 points are 3 points however they come.
That said we weren’t on song today,Allisson had a shocker by h.is own standards,we didn’t take chances we should have, but we got by with a pen.well taken for mine given the circumstances.
Reffing was appalling,Atwell should be doing pub games on that effort.
Stevie,I’m sure, would have approached this game differently with a decent squad, but he inherited what had and was determined not to lose…No problem for me…as long as Villa lost!
MOTM for me Robbo,he was back on song.

Watching the replay the mix up where he hit at Joel should have resulted in a foul as Ingsy pushed Joel just as all unfolded

I am sure, I hope, that it’s one off but last night Alisson and VVD had a couple of dubious touches. Matip was indeed the better defender last night. But great that we are grinding out wins when everything seem not to be going for us. Reminds me of our title winning season. Onto Newcastle!

I really didn’t see too much wrong with Villa’s approach, not enough to justify the criticism on here. They were a tenacious side still enjoying the new manager bounce, and from a truly inspirational person, but were over-matched and forced to play so much of the game in their half by a side who dictated the game would be played that way. If they can sustain anything close to that level of effort and competency with Watkins and Ings available youd think Gerrard would get them into comfortable midtable.

Totally dominated the game from the first whistle. Alisson probably lost concentration through boredom, I can’t remember them having one attempt on goal.
Difficult to pick a MOTM although strangely Matip and VVD were both really good in a game where we did little defending.
Attwell was everything I feared pre-match. This is the clown who thought Cresswell’s assault on Henderson was fine. He’s another one who’s either incompetent or corrupt. I was surprised he gave the pen but having seen it again it looked clear enough.
Villa were a fucking disgrace with their time-wasting and play-acting. That cunt with the white hair went down holding his face in the first couple of minutes when there was no contact at all, should be a yellow card offence.
Hard-fought win keeps us right up there, Newcastle should be easier on Thursday. This team is showing the relentless nature that took us to the title 2 years ago.

Villa had no shots on target and two off it’s ironically one of the meanest we’ve been all season.

It feels strange, ain’t it??? When I looked back at the stats, they have only 2 shots and none on target. Instead, the attention went to Ali fluffing his lines…

It looked to me like Ali had his old greasy socks on and had forgotten to put his boots on. Bambi on ice. This led to him getting nervous. What I didn’t understand is why he didn’t put his boots on at half time. Anyway a harmless slip here and there is just a minor slip up when Matip is in form.

Yeah slip on the first one is understandable it happens the second one is very unlike him but I don’t see the penalty if I’m honest. On Salah not sure what people have an issue with the guy stumbles into Salah impeding him.

If it’s the roll afterwards fine, it’s still a penalty.
