Salad gets fouled every game, but he doesn’t throw a tantrum like others do, and so doesn’t get awarded any free kicks. This also shows that EPL refs are not capable of being fair and just in their judgment in games. I also tend to think, that our players do get hard done by, because they don’t overdo the moaning and complaining during their games. Pure frustration of unfair referring that took 7 years of baiting, got to Klopp in the citeh game.
Now, I will take off my deep rose tainted glasses, although there is a lot of truth/fact in the above statements.
He is strong and tries to stay on his feet. Never shouts at refs to put them under pressure. They are incompetent and weak, and hence he’s an easy touch compared to Zaha and Kane etc
This is the key. Games are much easier to ref when they are played the right way. The way lots of top teams set out to play makes it damn near impossible for refs to be able to ref it well. All of the expectation and criticism seems to fall on the ref and very little on the players/manager. The more I think about the City game the more shitty I think their conduct was and the more disappointed I am in the lack of coverage of it.
Mo is a bull and with his low center of gravity actually invites contact, often initiating it. As quick as he is in full flight, he knows he’s even more likely to completely take you out of the game if he can get you to stop and then run away from you with you both having a standing start. Refs are instructed to treating wrestling incidents not in absolute terms (is the defender holding), but in relative terms, in terms of who started it and how is doing notably more than the other player. I think a lot of it is refs seeing Mo invite contact and then just throwing their hands in the air with a “let them fight” approach and then just refusing to distinguish between a player using his body to turn a player vs a defender just holding on for dear life.
It’s a great example of refs knowing the rules and the guidance, but not knowing the game.
I know you ignore me, but this is absolute nonsense. Its a convenient way to allow refs to not give fouls against Salah, instead of admitting what is statisically and optically plain to see.
Ok
First of all he hasn’t the courtesy to answer, because I argued a few points with him in the past and he has a hump about it. Its an internet forum and there will be disagreement at times.
But fair enough
I think he is attempting to explain away a really damming statistic with a bit of made up nonsense. I think he is wildly incorrect about how refs are instructed on wrestling incidents. They are fouls, ergo punishable.
Mo being strong etc has fuck all bearing on being fouled, without punishment.
That stat needs more examination.
So I think he has alluded to refereeing experience and therefore would possibly know about how referees are being instructed, but that’s a fair question on where his information comes from.
However, as a conjecture as to what is going on here, I think he is doing what you are asking for, examining why the stat is so, and coming up with plausible reasons. You just don’t believe that they are as probable as he thinks they are.
For me, if you take his claim on referee instructions to be true, it would indeed explain a large part (although not all) of why Salah doesn’t get the fouls. But at some point, what referees let go is simply absurd.
I don’t accept that referees are instructed to deal with wrestling/pulling in the manner he suggests.
And I dont think he speaks from any authority on refereeing instruction. Its not that long ago he believed that refs stopped their watches whilst injuries were being treated. They don’t.
Edit
Fair enough for attempting to explain his post.
It’s just incorrect.
On the Silva incident… MO has already been a victim of that type of shit-housery from Ramos, and it was there for the world to see - Even more reason why Taylor the Knob should have acted… He is supposed to keep the players safe first and foremost not decide for himself what the rules are going to be on a certain day in a certain match - no matter what the Mike Riley’s of this world instruct him to do… Imagine Taylor letting that go in a World Cup final if he was ever lucky enough to be chosen… and that is the point here.
A foul is a foul is a foul… blow your whistle and make the right decision
If we talking Howard Webb then yeah… Everyone was scathing about his performance… but these referees, either thick skinned or they can’t be human to continue in a job where almost everyone questions their parentage :0)
