we live in hope…
Yes, the rebellion in that galaxy far far away was driven by hope. ![]()
Well…Darwin is no longer about, so…![]()
Yet, somehow, Koeman can’t find room for him in the Dutch side!![]()
He worked his socks off and contributed greatly in our defending set pieces and scored and assisted. Now and again there seem to be player bashing and Gakpo gets it more than most. Even Van Dyke is not immune to it which baffles me even more, without him orchestrating the defense as well as the whole team we would be in the relegation zone.
He saved his hide several matches in the Euros.
Bullshit, he attempted at least 4-5. Three right in front of me in the second half (Sir Kenny stand)
He was t successful in any. Maybe that’s what he meant.
It’s funny watching him “closing down”
It’s like he pretends.
And that sir is why he doesn’t get injured and player like Jota (RIP) did, he wouldn’t just close down, he wanted to win the ball back and got injured doing it.
Nah, he’s naturally fit and looks after himself like a Spartan. Some players are blessed with being robust. Remember Suarez? Same. Mané was also for a while.
Remember all three of them got kicked from pillar to post! Mo for wrestled to the ground first half and no whistle. He just got on with it.
Jota was never able to go for long stretches without getting injured.
RIP Diogo.
Suarez was always injured but played on and Mane yep he was a freak and did like a tackle.
Mo may be as fit as a butchers dog, but has never gone in where it hurts when tackling or challenging for the ball!
My point is, he gets the shit kicked out of him and still turns up. Two really bad challenges (Ramos in CL and Hamza for Leicester in the league) was needed to take Mo out.
Let’s give credit where it’s deserved. Plus closing down and pressing isn’t the same as flying into tackles.
He also pulls out of 50/50’s and rarely tackles, you mentioned him closing down, I just mentioned how he doesn’t like the tackling bit.
Agree with that.
Even last season that was okay because when he got the ball he would create the space and get his shot off.
This season he’s not been doing that.
He never has been aggressive when challenging for the ball or working defensively, but he didn’t have to be because opposition full backs were more concerned about stopping him, whereas now the opposition managers see a weakness down our right that can be exploited by the full back overlapping with Mo only paying lip service to his defensive responsibilities.
I only saw MotD highlights so may not be representative, but I thought we looked horrible. Way out of shape at times.
But we got the goals so I’ll leave it at that. Happy with the 3 points. I’m not liking United ahead of us though.
On the ground we didn’t look horrible all the time but there were sequences where we looked like we couldn’t pass the ball 5 yards to a teammate. We definitely have issues but I’m at least glad we decided to clean up our set piece attacking so now we have a route to goals even if we aren’t playing well in open play.
our passing was woeful at times. Just glad we scored 5 and got the 3 points to keep challenging for a. CL place
Defensively too.
In one instance Gakpo didn’t track back, so both Mac and Dom steamed over to press the West Ham players resulting in our entire midfield all on our left flank within a few metres of each other. That left a huge hole in the middle which West Ham found.
It doesn’t matter what Gakpo does the opposition slices through our central midfield at will.
It did in that instance because it dragged out entire midfield over. They are culpable as well. I though we were past playing like U6’s in the PL.
