POST MATCH: Liverpool v West Ham (EPL 31/10/20 5.30pm)

And this is absolute nonsense as are all your post on this particular thread in my humble opinion.

Oh! please do tell me all about the ‘general de Gaule’ and my daughters Renault!

I think considering the current predicament, it was a great win. Lots of endeavour and flow. Can’t see why Moyes is complaining about the penalty. Stupid decision by the defender. Disallowed goal was rubbish, all went for the ball. I don’t see why social distancing is being acted upon when a keeper is involved. Just my thoughts.

For me there were too much backwards and sidewards passes.
And I didn’t see a single one-two.

There were quite a few attempted 1-2s they just didn’t come off as they were poorly executed.
2nd half was a real bore with all our sideways and backward passing. I couldn’t understand it.

Surprised at any criticism aimed towards Curtis Jones tbh, he played well. Sensible midfield performance, particularly good off the ball and kept it simple tonight on it apart from the pass that created the penalty opportunity. He played well.

thought he grew into the game when he moved over the left hand side in front of Andy,
still have a few doubts about him though,

for me Jones’s biggest problem is he came into the side, scored a wonder goal against Everton,
then scored againt Leyton Orient, and thought he had arrived, he had made it.

IMO it all went to his head a bit

What went to his head? He’s always been very confident. He’s behaved no differently than he has at youth team level. Two poor performances and all this criticism has flooded in.

You then get more reserved and sensible performances like tonight and he’s accused of not being adventurous enough.

Can’t win really. He played well.

Disagree. He’s played well whatever chances he got. I don’t remember him strutting about and playing a needless pass or being overconfident etc. Seems to me that he 's a mature lad who realizes that he’s still got a lot to learn.

he didnt close down the player who crossed for the 1st goal,
and was fairly anonymous until he switched over to the left,

thats why he was criticised.

I mind his post match interview after the Everton goal (i cant find the interview),
he came across as overly confident, almost like this is where he belonged at the age of 18
and should be in the 1st team already

compare that to Nat Phillips post match interview…

on MOTD he also he said he was happy to do anything to help the team,
(or words to that affect, as i mind after a few beers)

humble, and grateful IMO…

Curtis Jones is a lot better than Nat Phillips, always has been. I’ve no problem with his attitude being different. One has a decent chance of staying at this level and the other doesn’t.

he was subbed at half time during the recent Ajax game,
after been very anonymous,

and was anonymous in most of the 1st half the day,

I dont doubt that Jones is a more skilled player than Phillips,
but at this stage I would say Phillips has a better attitude.

and a better attitude will get you further in life,
than your skills IMO

He played a reserved and selfless game tonight. What exactly was wrong with his attitude?

He made an error leading to the 1st goal, so did Alisson but we darent pick up on that so all gets blamed on Jones and is multiplied into him being as useless as Gini. Except Gini is a seasonned warrior yet we mustn’t pick on him either.
Both were a bit lacking above all being a bit deep and not as adventurous as I would have liked however all in all Jones passes with an ok performance Gini doesn’t. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

only when he was moved across to the side of the field onto the touchline near Klopp, did he come start playing better and come into the game, he played on that side in the 2nd half as well, until subbed. and he did play better in the 2nd half.

before that he strolled around…

almost lost!

does he need Klopps beady eye on him at all times for him to work hard and play well?

So a 19 year old played better in a position he’s more familiar with?

Wow. Get rid of him now.

what is the position he is more familiar with?

Playing on the left in general. For as long as I’ve been watching Jones he has exclusively played on the left hand side of the pitch.

Will leave it there anyway, think it’s ridiculous criticism personally. He done well for me.

West Ham did better in terms of wins and draws when Moyes was away from the dug-out after tested positive for Covid-19. Their owner probably should boot him back upstairs.
