Never in doubt.

How such a shit team is seven points clear in the league, in the Carabao Cup final and finished top of the Champions League group stage is quite beyond me.

Must mean that everyone else is really shit.

I am perversely pleased by that match. That is essentially a loss for coaching purposes, but 3 points gained on the table. Slot gets to point at the performance and work against complacency after a jolt, but it doesn’t really cost us anything. Good platform for what will be a defining week.

I have one fucking afternoon off and the forum is in disarray.

Just to confirm we are now safe for another season.

Really weird second half. We didn’t so much take the foot off the gas as abandon the car on the motorway.

Really ragged towards the end there. Mac Allister, in particular, completely lost control in midfield, releasing the ball slowly and misplacing passes.

But we won. I’ll take 13 more wins like that, even if my blood pressure doesn’t.

We got what matters 3 points.

I’ve seen a few times with us, miss a pen or goal disallowed and we start shitting the bed from a comfortable position. Maybe it gave Wolves hope then Alisson did that save before that.

After the Wolves goal Allison never had another shot to save even the Quansah clearance if you look closely the ball is behind the Wolves man when he clears it.

Slot intimated that it was more an issue of fatigue rather than complacency, which makes sense. The problem is that with the brutality of the upcoming fixtures, similar performances will yield nothing at all.

People have been joking about it all season, but this period is truly Slot’s real test.

Yeah it’s just the perception of squeaky arse syndrome.

Probably reflected on how relaxing the first half was.

This is the thing it seems like the agenda is been pushed we are just scrapping by.

Yes, but the encouraging thing is that it was comparative fatigue, we were carrying the intensity of the derby, whole Wolves were rested.
vs Villa at least they will be equally fatigued.
I do hope we can bring our A-game vs City though.

Quansah was the one positive from the second half. Everyone else struggled to a degree. Nunez was as useful as a broom stick.

The writing is on the wall for him, and he knows it.

I have disgraced the forum

I’m happy with the 3 points, but I really found it a hard watch after the Wolves equaliser (superb goal, by the way).

I’d pick Endƍ as MotM, and I wish that he had been brought on earlier to see things out.

I do think that this looked like a tired performance. At least, we will be playing teams with similar schedules for the next few games.

This is being vastly overplayed.

Villa: 3 draws and a defeat in their last four league games
Man City: in better form, but mainly against minnows. Battered by Arsenal and Real Madrid, the only two decent teams they have faced recently.
Newcastle: One win and three defeats in their last four league games.

No team can be taken for granted. But if we play to our best - and the refs don’t screw us - we should win all three of these games.

The way I read it though it sounded a lot more like mental fatigue was the problem here, rather than physical. If it was physical though it’s entirely on him for not making more use of his squad.

If that is the case, and I’m inclined to agree (and if it isn’t it should be), it makes you wonder why we didn’t take the Saudi money in January.

My worry is we potentially have a lot of work to do elsewhere and we may think we could do without another thing on our plate this summer.
