Ronnie’s defending

Iffy second half, but Brighton we’re pretty poor in the final third.

Great 3 points though

No Gakpo in MOM poll? Thought he, Ron and Wirtz were all great. Everyone else good too.

Beating the 3 Bs is no mean feat.

Onwards and upwards redmen :flexed_biceps:

Two goals and a clean sheet over Brighton and the Barrott and Oliver combo. Just what we needed.

Wanted to select Gakpo but you misspelt it as Gomez I guess

Ronald Araujo is him.

That is all.

Not just free scoring, but they went into today with the best defensive record in the league and we scored 2 and created loads. This was maybe the first real Iraola performance from this side. And most of all, it was fun.

Just seeing the stats, how is there XG so high, thought they only had one clear chance?

Fixed. Auto correct is being an arse today

Great game to watch, both teams going for it and ultimately our superior quality told as we took our chances.

And although they didn’t score, Gakpo and Araujo are the outstanding choices for MoM for me. Araujo in particular, christ we need to make that man’s loan permanent, absolute warrior at the back.

Thought the first half was excellent, sloppy at times in the second especially from the younger lads but the senior heads were enough to cover for it.

Brighton could probably be sending stuff into our box until midnight and do nothing to be honest.

The ref was a massive wanker and I’m surprised Olivier didn’t go full analysis on that Jacquet foot.

Best part was the near the end with a Koumas coming together that was to me more of a foul on Koumas. He wasn’t watching but he gave the foul and then tried to explain the foul to Koumas even though he hadn’t seen it.

Utter bellend.

Anyhow we saw both sides of what Iraola is trying to achieve I guess today. A good win over a very good Brighton side.

I was weirdly confident about this one, mainly due to our pacier forwards coming into form. So it proved.

I have to say, having VVD, Jacquet and Araujo as a wall at the back makes us look a lot more secure. We’re still being passed through in midfield too often, but I can’t fault the effort of anyone today.

I genuinely don’t recall ever seeing a defensive header from a prone position, what a will to make the play. That loan option for 55M Euros doesn’t look daunting.

At 2:0 up, it probably wouldn’t have made a difference so too risky to create more evidence.

Our luck must be in today…

We were very good today. Hope Wirtz injury isn’t too bad.

A piece of piss.

Absolutely massive win and performance against THE in form team of the league. Brighton looked like they had no ideas outside of the clear chance they missed early.

Thought Wirtz was fantastic in the first half. Isak and Barcola and Gakkers all looked great at various times throughout.

All of a sudden if we beat Arse next week then we’re bang in the title race, and we have several guys to come back from injury still. Could be an exciting season ahead!

I’m convinced now that every ref who comes here is told ; ‘you have to be strong , the crowd will try and intimidate you’ and they referee the games with an already established bias. And that’s the most polite explanation I can think of.
