Yes, great to see that these £100+ million players actually work hard and not entitled prima donnas. Long may it continue.
I watched the game last night, without knowing the score, and the most positive thing I can say is that at not one point in the second half was I worried we wouldn’t see out the win.
Brighton are the best team we’ve played this season (not including City, for obvious reasons) and despite the second half being a one way street in terms of possession, it feels like holding them off with a hand on their head while they swing punches.
Barrott hails from that hotbed of professional refereeing Yorkshire. West Riding to be exact, which includes Sheffield. It’s not hard to join the dots.
It’s like whack-a-ninja, get rid of one corrupt cunt and another one pops up.
Thats been put to the Sword by Hendrie i didn’t hear it at the time so specifically watched the repeat and he says it with so conviction.
He reffed the West Riding cup final in 2018ish and looked a great up and coming ref.
Hurzeler has been fairly graceless in his comments about the match saying only team was playing football, which is not only nonsense, but ignores that in having already earned the right to be 2-0 by outplaying them in the first half the onus was on them to try to get back into the game and they were leaving a lot of room for us to counter into.
Damn, those are pretty disingenuous comments, I don’t really understand why he would have said that, it was basically end to end most of the match. It’s not like we parked the bus.
He’s gone down in my estimation after that, graceless remark.
I read his comments and laughed. Cody Gakpo had a couple of occasions in the second half where the right pass or better shot would have seen us win by three or four. They had possession, with little outcome. His comments are ridiculous, and as you say…graceless
Because some people are just bad losers. It’s not the first time he’d made comments as such.
He’s lucky we were wasteful in the final 3rd, otherwise they would’ve been put to the sword, the sword I say!!!
I don’t really pay attention to Brighton games unless we’re playing them, so hadn’t seen those.
Still, he is ridiculously young for a manager I guess, 33 right? Hopefully he’ll learn some humility.
Aye, he’s the youngest manager in PL history.
He’s generally ok but can be bitter over a result he feels his team deserved better in, probably was surprised with our tactics and expected us to play a different way.
The disappointing thing is other than one sentence everything he said was fair. Brighton lost, but demonstrated their place in the table is not some quirk of an early season run of favourable fixtures, but because they have become a very good side. They played well and demonstrated that on saturday, and this is what his comments were aimed at.
But you’d also think a manager might see this as a learning opportunity to reinforce to his emerging side what the standards are at this level - that playing well isn’t always enough. Coddling them with this nonsense seems not just graceless but counter productive.

He looks like a harmless little schoolboy, but is obviously ruthless and obsessed with success. That’s probably something you need to be a good PL head coach… with time, he’ll probably learn to channel his anger after a defeat, and to refrain from issuing ridiculous comments like this one.
In a way I don’t mind Hurzeler’s comments. He is smarting from a loss. His team played very well and they are building up a good thing there. He is a talented fella and will likely find himself in a bigger job soon enough. He is going very well and building up a good reputation as a young coach.
His comment obviously lacked grace, but because I like his work I can give him the benefit of the doubt. He could have been more classy, but I don’t mind seeing a fella who hates to lose. To a point, obviously. If this side of his personality grows unchecked, then he will become a cock. But we’re not there yet.
From a Liverpool perspective we won 2-0. Job done. We keep a clean sheet against the top scorers. We put two past the joint best defence (before kick off). We easily could have scored another couple, had we managed to make a bit more of some very promising situations.
They should have scored one or two themselves. They didn’t. So Hurzeler would be well advised to examine that.
Once we were 2-0 up they obviously had a lot of the ball. If the points were awarded on the basis of possession, I doubt we would have let them do that! But we switched to more of a counter game, defended resolutely, and looked like we would add to our lead on the break.
We seem to be building up a little head of steam. Arsenal next weekend will be a huge test, but if we manage to beat them, maybe anything is possible?
Brighton is a small club that is enjoying some success. And believes they are now at our level…Delusional lot.
We are far from the finished product. Missing match winners due to injury…
Lets focus on Arsenal.
We beat them. Dare i say we are actually back in the title race?
33 right?
Millennial brat
