Post Match Liverpool vs Brighton, PL Match 8: 25th October 14:00 BST

I can only assume the ref did not see it as close enough to an opponent’s legs to call it playing in a dangerous manner.

He was coming out with nonsense Carragher would have been proud of.

To be fair, they outshot LFC 9-4 in the 2nd half to batter us 0-0

Of those 9 shots only 1 was on target too the narrative that Brighton were far better was a bit over the top.

Statistically, they really weren’t. LFC was significantly better in the first half, most of the ‘match centres’ have the 2nd half fairly even, with Brighton’s real edge being possession - but most of their possession was in their own half in midfield. They had the same number of shots on goal in both halves, and only one more total shot in the 2nd half. The story was more or less LFC hitting cruise control. Iraola was clearly content to keep them at arm’s length and make them take the risks - which they didn’t really do.

hence battering us 0-0

So impressed by the whole team today. And Araujo is becoming the single emotional leader of the team. His key tackling and spotlight defending and unexpected qualities near the opposition goal are making a real difference for the entire team both offensively and defensively. And Wirtz is starting to click and so are Barcola and Isak is already being his clinical self.
Then when Nyoni came on he did an impressive job in midfield. Mature, hardworking display. Playing with him seems to really help Macca

Surely we HAVE to trigger that permanent transfer for Ron!!

It’s really coming together. Both tactically and in terms of team togetherness.
I tell any fellow red who is complaining about snapshot performances that these are just still pictures in an actual movie that is playing and the movie is clearly pointing towards us improving and improvement in any effective human endeavour is never a straight line so let’s enjoy the ride

Really can’t remember a dangerous chance in the second half, there weren’t any shots on goal in the second. They had a lot of bluster and the ref tried to hand them something in the one sided approach to fouls but as I said they could still be playing now and I don’t feel they’d have scored.

2-0,3 points whatever way you look at it, players starting to hit their straps,Brighton are a good side, things are looking pretty good for the end of October.
By now Araujo should be permanent, that guy certainly can make a game interesting.Love that he takes no prisoners,a defenders defender..
Hope Wirtz is OK ,his value is clear.

Brighton were good, no mistake about that but they just couldn’t live with our quality. We overwhelmed them first half but they remained dangerous. Very good team, which makes our performance even better, despite the efforts of that nobhead Barrott.
The second half for me was quite even because Brighton had more possession but we were looking more for fast transition killer moves, which we didn’t quite pull off due to their good defending. Our defence couldn’t be faulted for me.
What I liked was just how physical we were at last. Lads getting stuck in, putting a body on their players, led of course by Ronnie and Macca. Crowd loved it.
This was a top drawer showing from a team that seems to be getting Iraola’s methods down. Pundits and other twats were dying to see us come a cropper against their new favourite team, the Brighton who are title contenders and CL prospects. Well, ‘shaky’ Liverpool with all their 'problems 'are just one point behind them. Seethe on that!

We would probably still win.

We’re not really missing Dom, are we? Have to say we look a lot more organised in midfield.

Yeah many have alluded to this previously, but I’m not sure Dom and Flo can start in the same xi. Feels like Dom might have to be a rotation guy at RW, CAM, RB, etc. Wirtz is starting to come into his own and I’d be concerned about arresting his upward trajectory by sticking Dom back in the side.

Yeah. We seem to get into a rut when we play both Wirtz and Dom together.

Probably one reason why last year under Slot was so bad. Slot kept trying to fit in ways to have both Dom and Wirtz play together.

It also affected macca and grav’s play too.

Remember last year when teams would score from outside the box as there was no pressure on the shot, now look at us, we have far more urgency to close players down and a hunger to not concede.

Fantastic effort from the entire team + manager. Can’t wait for Ekitike, Leoni and Bradley to return. Imagine what Iraola can do with all these players added to our squad. We would be able to field strong teams for both the PL and CL.
Ward would be negligent not to sign on Araujo as a permanent player AND offer MacAllister a new contract.
Truly exciting times to be a red. ( Anfield not Old Trafford)

unfortunately didn’t get to see the game, because the stupid provider decided to broadcast that shower of shite( delighted they lost), so could only follow the match online. Waiting for updates is nerve wracking . 3 points, clean sheet and getting closer to the top. Think AI is rotating players and or subbing players, and they seem to be accepting it without moaning/ fussing about it, which shows a good attitude of the team.

Happy to see some of the persistent doom and gloom is fading, but it should, in my opinion, be wall-to-wall excitement.

AI is smashing it and there is a shitload of upside in this current squad.

Yep.
Too many people sceptical of AI these days, I think it’s a wonderful thing.
Lot’s to be enthusiastic about these days

Yes, the midfield battle in the first half was great to watch. It was quite refreshing to see that from us. Wirtz was everywhere Macca really solid and Gakpo and Barcola got stuck in at times.
