Gomez and Matip is gonna be very good CB pairing for the 2/3 games both of them manage to stay fit for.
Good game that fizzled out. We were fucked by the end of it so more than happy with the result.
Alisson, Matip, Henderson and Mane were superb. James Milner was excellent off the bench too, as reliable as ever.
Won’t go into the negatives other than to say I think Shaqiri was the wrong sub. We needed energy more than imagination at that point, but not something worth dwelling on.
Hopefully we can get a few players back over the next two weeks and go again. We’ve had the toughest fixtures so far, with Leicester up next, so a win there puts us top with a decent amount of the toughest games out of the way already.
I’d have taken that this morning They won’t feel great getting held at home. We rode our luck a bit. Fair enough
I got $100 on that we won’t see Joel play again until February
That’s the spirit!!!
YNWA
Perfectly fine with it.
We had chances to win it, but it was pretty clear in the last 30, we were not trying to lose it.
We were a bit better in the first half despite them having a few good attacks. We created chances, could have had an extra goal. In the second half, City played, eventually, significantly better. At the end, a neutral may say we were slightly lucky. All in all a good away game and a good performance against what is a very good team, particularly considering our many injuries on key player.
A draw is therefore a good result. A win would have been fantastic, but that would have been kind of a robbery perhaps.
I am happy enough. No reason for drama in any case. Our problems are now injuries and not form.
I voted for Allison as MotM and only Allison. Wasn’t sure about two more, not because we didn’t have other good players (not at all), but because Allison was a rock that oozed safety.
I think the formation itself was ok, but the huge drawback is you have your 4 best forwards on the pitch… To bring on fresh legs its a decent drop in quality so hard to change the game.
It felt like we were more cautious today and wanted to avoid a loss rather than chase the win - maybe giving our opponents a little more respect than our usual game.
Gini my MOM, he really bossed the midfield with Hendo. How could anyone who watches our games think that we can afford to let him go?
Hope TAA’s injury isn’t serious. Any news on what the situation is with him?
I’d take the result today tbh. This is always our most difficult game every season. YNWA!
Yep, Matip was very impressive considering he came into this cold and played 90mins.
Not a great performance. Defensively poor for the goal with the pressing and marking. Chances not taken. Not incisive enough. Ran out of steam somewhat nearer the end.
We where good in the first half less good in the second. De Bruyne missed a penalty what ‘never’ happens, thouth the ref was excellent.
Happy with a deserved point, hope TAA is oke.
To be fair to him when he does come back into the side he always looks on it from the start.
FYI we’ve now played four matches against The Big Seven. (Yes, I’m including Everton this year.) We sit atop that table with 8 points having played four matches, three away from home. Compare that to ManC, who’ve only played two matches, both at home. Only ManU have played as many matches against The Big Seven as us.
Hendo just oozes class.
Indeed, but everytime he gets caught I close my eyes! He really is a top class defender, not far from Van Dijk levels, but fuck me he’s made of cheese or something.
City settled for a point about 10 minutes from the end which tells you everything you need to know about how scared they are of us. It was a poor game and both teams looked tired. Would have taken a point before kick off so can’t complain about the result but I think City are not as good this season and we could have won with some better decision making in front of goal.
Alisson was superb today. Faultless handling in those conditions. So glad he’s there. Gini was terrific. We were short on numbers in midfield and that was an epic effort from him to stop them from dominating.
Undefeated since the Villa shambles and we are looking really good despite all the injuries.
Fucking HELL… Away to probably the 2nd best team in Europe… Words fail me lad.
An interesting factoid. The Big Seven are 2-3-5 at home thus far. Only us and ManC have won at home in these matches.
Decent result Hopefully we get someone back after the break.
