POST MATCH: Man City v Liverpool (EPL 8/11/20 4.30pm)

I agree, i find it hard some people believe so much in their own opinion, that they disagree with the manager - whom has delivered a Cl and PL trophy - heavily relying on the said player the poster wants to criticise continuously…

Few thoughts, first of all the penalty we conceded I don’t understand really. In the beginning of the season I watched multiple videos trying to understand those handball situations. They said that the new rule tries to cut out those situations where a ball comes so fast you cant really react, but you’re moving the hand away from the ball its not a penalty. I thought that was exactly what happened, but yeah I don’t really get it anymore.

I was furious when the ref stopped our good counter attack right at the end by giving City a free kick for free.

But yeah other than that can’t really complain, its a new season now and it will be a tough battle for the championship but in the long term it probably was a very good result.

I’ve given up with you. Just no point! :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Although I think he should have given Walker a 2nd yellow. Walker has gotten off easy for his rough tactics on our boys.

Good point.

Started well, but impossible to keep that intensity. Second half sorta flat, City probed, we were always a threat on the break, but we didn’t have the energy to do it.

I didn’t like their penalty award, and since that’s how it is, we should have had one too in the second half. But a miss by De Bruyne means there’s no sense of burning injustice,

The big story is the quantity of football and lack of rest and recovery. Injuries are way up, and we picked up another today. Hope Trent is only minor and 2-3 weeks, but we will see.

The five sub thing needs to be revisited ASAP. And we need to use them, if granted! Or rotate more.

Given the unusual circumstances of this season, good but slightly lesser teams were always going to close the gap if not playing champions league football. Spurs and Leicester look like they are shaping up to have a go, but I still think we are the team to beat.

It’s going to be gritty, and our best football will be observed more fleetingly, but the mentality we have is incredible.

A draw at Man City is not bad at all.

Well now you do. Let me introduce myself, I’m from Liverpool, a Liverpool fan and when I watch England, I want them to win because I’m English. I know it’s not very fashionable to be English, but there you go.
Having said that, at the moment I would prefer all our English players to withdraw from the England squad because of our current injury problems and the COVID crisis of course.

This is why beating Atalanta at Anfield is vital after the break. Being able to rest players for 2 CL games would be a massive boost. Also having Trent and Tiago available would be great.

Yep, qualify for knockout stages ASAP, then shuffle the pack to give squad men some valuable CL experience and hopefully let the main men rack up some Prem wins, interspersed with some good rest and recovery.

Why was Gomez at fault for their goal??

What are you asking about? If you see the goal by Jesus, as good a play / touch that was by Jesus, the defending by TAA was a shamble. The least he could do was show him to his weaker foot or something, or at make it harder for him. It was too easy otherwise.

Difficult to argue with that tbh.

Seriously, that’s how we have been playing for years now. Our full backs bombard forward, the midfielders cover the space they leave behind. But no, Klopp is an idiot asking his midfielders to cover the space the fullback leave. How the fck is he even managing a job as big as Liverpool is beyond me. Will never win anything with such lack of tactical nous.

Looked like he wanted to put pressure on KDB and then hesitated.

My point was that not just one or of our players could have done better there but probably 4 or 5.

It was a great attack tbh and i don’t believe with VvD and Fabinho it could have been prevented.

As for the Gomez handball - and i have 13 days until our next game to repeat this - We all would be fuming if this would be a possible penalty for us not given. 100% clear pen!!!

Haven’t seen this game yet,so I will content myself by saying coming away from Emptihad with a point will suit me any day.
Well done Lads!

Thought Gini was exceptional in the first half, as was TAA and Robertson

Second half was a lot lower quality - Matip made a few stray passes as did a couple of others. Thought the attacking threat diminished when Bobby went off - Thiago would have made a big difference to the game - I believe everything will step up a gear when he is fit and has a few games under his belt.

Does anyone know if Man City have overtaken Man Utd in the cheating scumbag table?

considering the injuries we have, and having to deal with a very good team, plus our recent schedule of games and the weather, I guess we have to be satisfied with the point. We were lucky with their missed penalty and the header. onwards and upwards YNWA

Thought we were great until City scored their flukey goal. No idea how Micah “I used to play for City” Richards think Jesus meant that touch. He didn’t, it was luck. He reacted well to stab it home but he didn’t meant the touch before hand. No way.
After they levelled we had a good 10 again then although it wasn’t a penalty it was under new stupid laws. We got lucky with the miss but it’s our first piece of luck all season.

Second half was a non event. Both teams settled for a point around 60.

Thought everyone played well but an inform Bobby puts us 1 up inside first few minutes. Their keeper did well to be fair but he looked shakey throughout and we should’ve tested him more.

I think we just saw the frustration with Matip. Top class defender but is made of breadsticks. If he can stay fit then we will be ok at the back. We’ve definitely changed the way we are defending without Big Virg. Nowhere near as high.

All in all a good point. Now gone to Chelsea and city and got 4 points. Happy with that.
