That VAR thing has frustrated me. I want a working system in the game but this margin thing feels off somehow. It looked offside to me and feels like it looked like a duck, sounded like a duck kind of moment.
But I dont think it affected the result. We didn’t deserve anything
He’s done.
Like a lot of others he shouldve been moved on. This is 1 season too many for a lot of them.
To me it looks like 5 years under Klopp for some has burnt them out. Robbo, Fab, Firmino, Milner and Hendo all look leggy and weve played 3 games.
I find this odd as well but could it be due to a type of conditioning they have done - i.e. try and reach peak fitness/match fitness early. Obviously things aren’t going to plan but was the idea to be able to run faster and for longer quicker than the competition - only this has led to breaking the players before they get the chance to apply the “advantage”…
Re Trent. He is clearly being asked to stand that far up the pitch and you will get caught with a long ball over the top.
OK he is shit for the first goal but someone needs to help him out.
The bigger problem for me is VVD - he is so out of form. Hes fine passing under no pressure but he isnt leading and there are times where he can do so much more but when the goals go in he is just standing there.
Also i thought it was 7 times but its 9 games we have gone behind in a row.
On hols and stayed up till 2am (and watched till 4 am). Very frustrated with the performance of the team. Coaching team clearly has a lot of work to do as it’s definitely not working.
Perhaps some more youngsters need to be given more chances as we can’t keep relying on Millie and Hendo. Even if Thiago is back, don’t forget he’s an oldie too
Carvalho needs more playing time as well
The Rasford goal was offside, and all the tolerance explanations and comparisons to last season dont adequately cover that.
The decision at 1-0 down and playing a lot better knocked the wind out of our sails, like the penalty vs Fulham.
Two major decisions at points when maybe we could have turned games around.
All that said, we were awful last night. Sancho had way too much time and room for the first goal. Milner diving like an amateur and Virgil with his hands behind his back asking him to shoot. Whilst TAA went missing.
The scond goal was offside but what was Hendo attempting? Giving a side with pace that oportunity?
Fernandes should have had second yellow and then a red card for time wasting, but you would want our lads to do the same in that position.
Bobby is treading water, and two who will start ahead of him all season were unavailable. Diaz is lively and a realky decent player, but not at Manes level just yet.
Missing Nunez, Matip, Thiago is in my view major.
That said we had enough to beat them last night.
Its really frustrating
Guy on a podcast - City fan was saying Pep gave his players extra time off this summer.
Only had 3 friendlies (including Comm Shield) and then gave them more time off.
We were arranging friendlies after shield and first game (ok that was cancelled) but I think we look shattered.
I always thought this season might have a bit of the “after the mayors show” about it and it seems so far albeit only after 3 games it looks that way.
But we are paying the price of either Klopps loyalty or the owners not giving him money because I cannot believe that we go into the season not upgrading the midfield that has constantly let us down over the years.
Its no surprise that Ox, Keita, Thiago and Jones are injured again as they have been their entire LFC career. They are aren’t suddenly going to be injury free.
Everything you said is basically agreed upon by most. So if you can see it, I can see it, you mean to tell me that the management team cant see it? Hendo has done 10+ years of running and digging for us…he can’t play two games back to back anymore, he just can’t, his body can’t handle it and Milner should be nowhere near starting for any team in the league. He should be managing the under 23s. Now he in heavens could we think we could start a season like this is beyond me especially with walking sick notes like Ox, Naby, Jones, and Tiago.
Teams have sussed us out this season. They know we are weak in midfield because of constant injuries and players in the side who are not quite good enough (or dare I say it - over the hill?), so they just pack midfield, bully us, and overrun us, thus dominating the game. Our tactics to compensate for our weak midfield are obviously failing.
Fair enough but do you think we would have got something from this game if Fabino and Carvalho were brought on at HT instead of waiting for United’s second goal?
We’ve got three games in eight days next. If some of the players look shot now, how will they cope with that schedule? Van Dijk and Gomez should be ok because, in my opinion, their work rate was questionable last night. They played like they’d been sharing a ‘spliff’ together.
There is something else afoot for me - not sure what though. The main sound bites from Klopp have been:
“if the right player was available then we would get him in”
“he (Klopp) loves the current group”
“we need to stay positive and not worry about things we can’t control” (similar)
“the injury witch got Keita” (words to that effect)
Yes this is selective but it is strangely negative and a bit too fluffy from him. Klopp normally has a more direct and upbeat posture. The spate of injuries is the thing for me that is most unsettling and clearly causing Klopp and everyone at LFC a cause for concern - but he and his team need a plan (which I’m sure they do) and project a positive posture. Is it a result of the training, “luck” or because of the players we have? If the first or the last then it smacks of a gross miscalculation. I’m leaning towards a prefect storm but even then it is clear that AOC, Keita, Milner, Henderson and Thiago were certain to miss periods of the season and to rely on luck to have 2 of the 5 available is still a big gamble.
Not sure how true it is but rumours has it Naby was injured whilst on the bench at Palace when a fan from the main upper threw a paper plane and landed on his lap.
i kinda get what you mean, but, yeah, it actually affected the result, also, as i said elsewhere, we were good for a draw i reckon, or, to change the language, UTD probably didnt deserve the three points, if the offside goal doesnt go in…there werent too many other moments…
it wasnt like theyd be in the dressing room and looking at each other going ‘fuck lads we nearly let that one get away’
