He produced some interesting moments and is a revelation as Manure were looking to off load him not so long ago. Enough ingredients for hyperbole.
It was an excellent tackle from Kerkez but at the same time, he was the one playing the United players onside.
Didn’t they start in their own half?
Not that I recall but happy to be corrected
All 3 of them!
It was a shambles, massive space in behind, no pressure on the ball.
Kerkez did the right thing as no one else had any nous or positional sense, it was worse than school boy stuff.
I can not recall either. I was holding my breath in panic and disbelief. The camera was on VVD goofing around then 3 Manures running at our goal. If it hadn’t been for Kerkez I could have had a heart attack.
So for me the offside theory isn’t serious as I think as there were 3 of them controlling an offside line is nonsense.
One thing is for sure I won’t be watching a reply of it unless someone else posts one
.
Generational talent, I keep hearing.
It is astonishing how bad that sequence is. The Utd midfield is given acres of space. Ok, that’s fine if we’re going to stand off them there, but that has to then be joined up with how the rest of the side are set up. But no. The defense is still maintaining a high line as if we’re pressing. 9 of the outfield players are so compressed into the midfield you could throw a hoola hoop around them.
Remember they ran a piece with the headline about how Chelsea were back without a manager after beating Leeds 1-0.
It seems the issues returned against what was a mostly second string Forest side until half time.
Liverpool fans attacked at Everton, two weeks ago and now at Utd. I’d be happy if both clubs were banned from Anfield.
And you don’t think our fans are capable of similar violence on occasions? All clubs have their scummy element and ours are no different.
A gang of Liverpool FC hooligans who launched an attack on a rival fan were blasted by a judge as “lily-livered cowards”.
The 10 men, aged 18 to 23, were banned from football matches for four years after beating up a Manchester United fan before a Premier League game at Anfield.
I’d be happy for a mutual banning where it concerns us, Everton and both manc clubs.
If you think we’re ‘all as bad as each other’ then you clearly haven’t been paying attention.
EXPOSING FORMER REFEREES’ FLAWED LOGIC: WHY BRUNO FERNANDES’ CHALLENGE WAS A STONEWALL RED!
How does a studs-up challenge from behind only result in a yellow? Dermot Gallagher argued Bruno Fernandes’ tackle escaped a red due to a “lack of excessive force” and its low position. This is where the former referees’ double logical fallacy collapses.
CHECKMATE 1: Demolishing the Fake “Downward Motion” Standard
Gallagher’s claim that Bruno’s challenge was safe because his foot slid low is unsupported by law.
(1) IFAB Law 12 Does Not Specify Direction: Statutes never state a tackle must come from a downward trajectory to be SFP.
(2) Injury Mechanics Remain Fatal: A low lunge from behind connecting directly with the ankle is just as capable of causing a fracture when the foot is firmly planted.
CHECKMATE 2: Demolishing the “Excessive Force” Logic Trap
The second fallacy is hiding behind the phrase “lack of excessive force” to downgrade a foul. This directly violates the official IFAB Law 12 statute.
IFAB’s SFP rule states a red card is mandatory if a challenge: “…endangers the safety of an opponent OR uses excessive force.” The keyword is OR, not AND. This rule is alternative! When a challenge falls under “endangering the safety of an opponent,” a red card must be issued—regardless of explosive power.
POTENTIAL vs OUTCOME
The core concept of SFP is to protect players by evaluating the POTENTIAL danger, not the final report.
(1) A referee does not need to wait for an ankle to snap to justify a sending-off.
(2) A studs-up challenge from behind carries a 100% potential to end a career. The primary duty is to punish that danger.
CONCLUSION
Former referees invent false standards—pretending a red card requires a downward trajectory AND excessive force simultaneously. According to IFAB Law 12, Bruno Fernandes’ blindside lunge was a clear red card.
im absolutely shocked and astounded that it appears we have been shafted by a referees decision.
i am however comforted that the referees are only human, make mistakes, and try thier best to not make them again.
i remember when Mascherano was sent off for accosting the referee all those years ago, i felt at the time it was a bit harsh, but for the greater good of the game it certainly stamped out the issue though, hardly ever see players surrounding the ref anymore
Remember teams used to wrestle players in the box and nothing was given… glad they had that two weeks were they punished it.
No one was ever going win a title by doing that afterwards.
