Post match: Man Utd v Liverpool (EPL 3/5/26 3.30pm)

Anyway
The Sesko goal is forgotten because we deserved fuck all from the game.
Which pisses me off.

The worst situation of the match was the from one of our corners, where Virg was caught up field trying to win the ball back.

No one got back in position to cover him and they played one long ball over the top to Mbeumo and Kerkex had to cover over from LB in a 3 v 1 situation and Kerkez made a brilliant last ditch challenge to win the ball and stop a certain goal.

It was comical covering apart from Kerkez.

Kerkez was brilliant in that situation.
I was like ‘oh fuck’ then I noticed Kerkez had some how managed to get all the angles right and would get there with a good chance of succeeding.
It’s not easy to judge angles on a flat screen so I’m very pleased with myself for for seeing that .

It was one of the best tackles in how he approached it and executed it, got me buzzing, but how the situation happened had me shaking my head in disbelief, shocking defending.

This looks incredibly brutal, but I decided to post it anyway.

There is a piece on the echo site with the headline “furious Carragher cannot believe what Chiesa did in manchester united loss.” I guess I missed this so went to the piece to find out what it was. The totality of the coverage of what Chiesa did in the piece is as follows:

And former Liverpool defender Carragher criticised the Italian while on commentary for Sky Sports. He said: “I mean, can you believe that throw-in from Federico Chiesa. Unbelievable.”

The echo is a joke

tired of saying it but it sickens me that our gutless club still allow this fucking vermin inside our stadium. They should have been fucked right off years ago.
They are fucking scum and should be treated as such.

Manchester United fans mock Diogo Jota death

Small group filmed singing offensive song about Liverpool forward who died in car crash last summer

LFC needs to make a strong statement to condemn this.

Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot need to call these scums out.

We’ll say fuck all because we’re a spineless club. Maybe put out another joint statement warning our fans against singing songs about Bobby Charlton or something.

LFC doesn’t need to say anything. Manchester United should put out the statement and ban the fans in question.

It hindsight, it appears a lot of the Amorim noise was being driven by his agent. He was desperate to take a leap to a bigger club. And while I believe we interviewed him, I think we sniffed out pretty quickly that it was too intransigent in his stylistic views to adapt to the players we had.

Still trying very very hard to keep the optimism up, but losing to that absolute shower of shite is depressing. Hate them so much that I will only be satisfied if they get relegated right down to the lower divisions and permanently stay there

The players seem to think the same as Slot, that possession equates to control.

Possession is largely meaningless if all you do is passing sideways and back. Maybe they thought they were in control when they equalized. So they relaxed and conceded again. Cara is right that having a kick about in the corridor does not show the mindset. We need fighters but we have too many posers.

Especially when Carrick expected it and game planned around it. Utd let us get in to their third and only then engaged us knowing that if they won the ball at that point there would be a lot of space for them to run into. And it gave us real problems. 60% possession when its only in areas that the opposition is happy for you to have it and you lose possession the moment you cross a line in the sand the Utd midfield have set is not control.

These sorts of analyses suggesting that a terrible performance was acceptable based on some statistics have been more depressing for me this year that the performances themselves. Even good teams throw in a stinker every once in a while but they point at what went wrong and fix it. This season has been more like us sugar coating our failures. That unwarranted positivity is what made this feel like a terminal decline to me way before you’d have concluded that from just the results alone

Nothing wrong with passing sideways or backwards, or even slowing the tempo in the build up. I think there’s often a misconception regarding this.
Its essentially nuanced. Its all about what happens next and what the ultimate goal is.

The key here is timing wrt finding the right moments to speed up and/or to make the movement between the lines…

Yeah, you have to hold and give but do it at the right time. You can be slow or fast but you must get to the line

A great player whose glory was forever tarnished by that…

Predictable criticism. He knew they will try to hit you and hurt you

I keep reading on BBC and elsewhere the Mainoo gave a ‘masterclass’. He scored the winning goal but he certainly didn’t deliver a masterclass or anything like it. Nobody did.
