You watched a different game to me, we created numerous great chances against the barcodes and almost nothing against West Brom???
Let’s be honest: if Mourinho or Solskjaer had said that, we’d all be taking the piss.
No matter how much the boss tries to sugarcoat it, all draws are the same: they represent an inability to kill off the opposition and mean two points dropped.
The sub of Gini baffled me.
Milner was playing much better than Hendo
Also no Ox and Shaq for 2 mins was also baffling.
Jones last few games have been poor but he’s young and that will happen.
I missed the first 20 minutes when apparently we were really bad but I thought we played OK for the rest of the game. We were patient, didn’t get desperate or hurried and created plenty of good chances. Usually it’s the sort of game where one goes in and we win comfortably but it just wasn’t our night and the keeper was inspired. Some top class saves. I think we miss Jota. His finishing was the difference in a lot of our earlier games.
Still a long way to go. We’re in a good position. I’m not panicking. I think things will click when they need to and we’re still the team to beat.
We never won because our forwards couldn’t put away their chances , it’s as simple as that really.
If we had Jota coming on around the hour mark , we probably win that game.
Injuries are absolutely killing our chances of retaining the title. I don’t believe for one minute that Matip will be back in three weeks’ time and failure to get a decent replacement in January will be criminal. WTF happens if Fab gets injured ?!
Please God at least let Thiago stay fit now. That was the one thing that stopped last night from driving me to utter despair.
Yes but Millie looked to be tiring a little and he had only just returned from injury.
I think I must have watched a different game to some on here and the pundits. We created 2 good chances last night, both for Salah. The 2 headers from Bobby weren’t clear-cut imo, especially the one in the 2nd half.
Their keeper made 1 excellent save - from Salah 1st half - and there were a few scrambles in their 6 yard box but other than that we were toothless.
The foul by the keeper on Mane would have been looked at at the other end but that’s what happens when your games are refereed to a different set of rules to everyone else.
I think a big part of football in psychological. We seem to be on a bit of a down at the moment, a bit short on confidence. The CB situation could be playing on the minds of all players just affecting their confidence a little. Sometimes a change for the sake of change can freshen things up. The manager can put a different spin on it and make his players believe again.
For me the next game I would play Hendo at CB and Millie, Thiago and Gini in MF. Front 3 could stay the same although I continue to be unimpressed by Bobby. We have Ox and Shaqu on the fringe and both can be game changers in their own way.
Can´t wait to get Jota back.
I was screaming at Salah last night. Two one on ones and he can’t hit the fucking target. There was a time when you could absolutely bank on him to put those type of chances away when the chips were down. i.e. in tight games when one goal is probably gonna decide it. Now it’s almost as if the opposite is true. It’s alright coming on and banging in a couple when we’re five up but where are you when it really counts.
Oh , and it’s a fucking miracle how his penalties go in. They’re invariably shite as well.
We just need to buy a decent centre back.
Hendo belongs in midfield , alongside Thiago and Gini.
@Prolix said it earlier in the thread that the Darlow foul on Mane should have been a penalty. 100% correct. If thats Rashford or Kane or Sterling its a penalty, nailed on.
No VAR look at it? No talk by commentators?
Its a seriously poor decision that cost Liverpool two points.
I know I bang on about this but its too many poor decisions now to be coincidence. The media narrative is working against us, simple and obvious.
Overall its two matches we could/should have won. But still top and the best player around by a country mile getting minutes last night gives me hope. Three years ago if you said we would be champions leading the race at Christmas you would be laughed at. Its not too bad then.
Klopp saying that he is pleased with the performance sounds weird to me. It was average at best and nowhere near to being good. The fact that we could and should have won doesn’t mean anything. The distances between the lines were big, particularly between the midfield and the attack. Passing was loose, movement off the ball sub par. None of the starters had a decent game except for Milner, Robertson and Alisson. On the contrary, the forwards and TAA were horrendous. Henderson not that much better.
Klopp himself looks off; for the second game running he makes his third substitution in added time while he’s after a goal. His team selections in the last couple of games have been unispired. The standard trio in attack and Henderson/Jones in midfield. Chamberlain has been fit for a while now and he’s used him for 10 minutes. Shaqiri could have come on much earlier and change the formation if need be. Minamino played his best game against Palace and he’s left him on the bench while the front three have stunk up the place. He’s had to rein the team in with all the first-choice CBs missing but against WBA and yesterday for me he was overly cautious.
The good news is that Thiago Alcantara is back. It took him less than half an hour to transform the team but unfortunately the forwards couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn. Bet on him tearing the mancs and the rest of the league a new one if we manage to keep him on the pitch. Which goes to say that a lot of the problems stem from the long-term absences and the relentless fixture pile-up we’ve had to deal with. In that respect, the two week break in January is a godsend. I don’t know if they are plans to have a training camp somewhere warm but in any case I expect Klopp to refocus and re-energize the team once it comes around. They are the best team in the league by some distance, it’s time to start showing it again.
I hope not. We’re always worse after those.
Salah has been average for a while now. He’s pretty ineffective when playing with his back to goal, wants too many touches and seems to be playing for himself rather than the team. That may be a lazy observation but that’s how it looks to me.
The front 3 all look at odds with one another. There was a break on in the 2nd half that would have been in the net 2 years ago, last night it fizzled out before we even reached the box.
We’ve become predictable and easy to defend against. Nobody wants to take a shot from distance which is odd because against Palace 3 of the goals came from shots from the edge of the box or outside it.
Agree with that. And he’s not doing himself any favours with his recent comments neither.
Very frustrating match. The opportunities were there to win it but we just couldn’t convert chances. Went for Robbo as MotM as he kept the left wing working well. Alisson did his thing keeping us in it and Thiago looked like a game changer when he came on.
We have played too many games like this this season. Last year we would stick in a perfunctory shift but still snatch something. This year it just isn’t clicking and it’s difficult to say what the difference is. Just bum luck?
Still top of the league so I’m not going to start panicking.
The finishing was terrible. These draws are hurting us. My head says we’ve got no chance, as we can’t get a run going. Good to have Thiago back though.
We could have done with Jota.
Against WBA we barely got a shot on target last night their goalkeeper got man of the match, if people cant see the difference then as Jurgen says i cant help you.
Jurgen is quite conservative with his subs. Not sure why he didn’t sub in Minamino for Mo in the 2nd half when Mo was not effective. Surely he can’t be worse than Mo?
