We have a great chance to recharge the batteries after the Southampton game and give some of the lads a much-needed rest.
13 days up to the Utd game with only the cup game at Villa in between. If ever there was a season to spew the FA Cup then this is it.
Just seen Jurgen has said Matip is out for 3 weeks. That’s a bonus if true. The cynic in me says it’s an excuse not to buy another CB and then Matip is nowhere to be seen for 3 months. Hope I’m wrong.

Don’t think it is an excuse if Klopp wants a player he gets him sooner or later. I’m more worried about his assessment of the duration. When he is saying 3 weeks we normally don’t see the player back for another 4 weeks after those 3.

The thing is I think Klopp will be happy to go with what he has and not push for a new CB this window, he’s always said he prefers to work with what he has and not just throw money around. This might be his way of appeasing the masses by saying we’ll be fine, Matip will be back soon…and then he’s nowhere to be seen.

You are right that he rather works with what he has than bringing in new in January although there is someone called van Dijk 
but all these injuries could have forced his hand.
If we don’t bring in a top CB I’m afraid that the FA cup could be the only thing we win this year.

Agreed, and my cynical side is inclined to believe this is exactly how it plays out. It’s a publicly hedged bet, covered either way in the event no one is brought in. On the other hand it could also be subtle public negotiating if another club is digging in. “No worries, we have options, our guy will be back soon anyway”.
All that said, I don’t care if Matip was back tomorrow. This club needs another central defender.

Well, to be fair, Bobby’s recent celebration sprinting to the Kop was awesome (by that I mean I teared up). And generally all celebrations seem less enthusiastic without crowds.
For what it’s worth, I thought Jurgen’s post match presser was excellent today. In which case, the Saints should theoretically be in trouble.

Top of the table by four points or so, no? Then, “rant”, piss-poor Jan-Feb, then spanked them 1-4… God, I hope nothing like that occurs! Tonight of all nights!
This draw was worse than the last game’s draw. Last game, at least we dominated the first half. This draw, we were totally mundane, dictated by Newcastle, its like we are almost waiting for something to happen, rather than making it happen. Players are not passing and keeping balls to their regular standards.
The only plus is to see Thiago back and that we are still top of table. Yeah!
